Is anyone having any success using the SL2 with Fotos 2.0 (I am trying out the Pro version)?  I can get the camera to connect to the app on my iPad Pro 12.9 using the latest IOS quickly and easily, and can use the app remote to take photos on the SL2, but it just says “No Photos” in the app so I can’t see or download any of the photos from my camera.  Very frustrating.  I sent an email using the customer service feature in the app - I will see if I hear back, but I haven’t been able to find anything online to help.

Thanks,

Peter

The problem exists for me regardless of format. The only solution I have found is to remove one of the SD cards.

I reported this to Leica and they confirmed Im not the only one with the issue and that they are working on an update:

Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately you are not the first one who sent this mail.

We started to investigate the reason for this issue and try to solve it as soon as possible.

As workaround please use only one card at the Leica SL2.

We apologies for any inconveniences.

Here's another Fotos objection.  When I connect Fotos 2.0.2 (this week's edition) to my SL2 and open Remote it starts out by switching the camera into P mode.  I never use P mode.  Why can't it leave the camera in the mode in which it is found?  At least I'd like an option to do that.

I gave up: so far Leica doesn't pay attention to software either home made or bought.

Exactly, that’s why they are not yet perfectly interesting for paparazzi, sports- and wildlife photographers that earn their living with these form of photography. Not even since the cooperation with Panasonic. Now why is that? I wouldn’t say that is because of Panasonic’s lack of knowledge.

Maybe but my Panasonic app works fine either for smartphone android or iPad....

Right, what’s so difficult in cooperation?

Little details like legal constraints making the L-mount "collaboration" arms' length, and cost and time required  to do something with two groups that you would think one could accomplish.  But we should hold Leica to delivering what Panasonic (as have others) has shown is possible.

As Leica has said, L-mount is not cooperation, just opening of the formerly proprietary L-mount. It is an alliance, but Sigma, Panasonic and Leica are competitors as well.

And did you know that Leica and Panasonic cooperate way longer than the L league exists?

I know that Leica and Panasonic had a working relationship for a very long time (Panasonic lenses, adapted Panasonic bodies, etc.). However, in recent Peter Karbe's speech it was explicitly stated that L-mount is not a cooperation (report is on German part of this board). In case of the SL2, the only part where I could imagine a cooperation is IBIS. I do not know if that is licensed Panasonic technology or something else.

I don’t know if you want to defend the troubles with wifi and the Foto’s app and its predecessor but I think it’s a shame for Leica, how ever it occurred or is caused. This counts also for the M10 and especially the M10D, which would suit a smooth connection to a smartphone for that price.
