There's no availability date posted nor is there a photo or drawing of the bracket. Thanks Joe! Placed my order.

Logic shouldn't be part of this discussion though. 🙂 John I'd suggest waiting to buy it from B&H. I just did a quick check for a similarly priced plate, and B&H shipping costs to London would be cheaper than RRS shipping costs to Massachusetts, which seems a bit ridiculous. I'll wait for B&H, as it will ship free, and in the meantime I'll continue to use the RRS BP-CS plate

As you say, their shipping charges are far more reasonable, and I was just looking at the SL bracket as a price equivalent, and they also do pre-pay of import duties (much like Amazon.com do) so I would be able to know exactly what it was going to cost. I too shall wait. Thanks again. John

There is German dealer who stocks RRS plates for various cameras, I used to buy mine for SL601 and Z7. https://www.augenblicke-eingefangen.de/catalog/index.php

Cheers, John The L add on bit that makes arca camera plate “L” plate is expensive. If you consider base plate and flip the camera with your ball head you save substantially. Alternatively you can get generic arca-Swiss L plate on the cheap; eBay, Amazon, SpeedGraphics, Wex, the list goes on. Alternatively you can get generic arca-Swiss L plate on the cheap; eBay, Amazon, SpeedGraphics, Wex, the list goes on. I've got plenty of arca-swiss plates and options. I can even buy a 3 Legged Thing L bracket for £35. I have a Pig Iron L bracket, I just hate the sharp corners on it. I look at a RRS as as much a camera protector, as well as a arca-swiss plate. I've had RRS L brackets on three previous cameras (gripped X-T1, gripped X-T2, & M-P Typ. 240) The pricing I quoted was for the RRS L bracket for the SL2, buying from B&H or Augenblicke Both of them are significantly cheaper than buying the SL2 L bracket direct from Really Right Stuff $264.14 + all the import duties, taxes and handling charges that i would be paying before taking delivery. mmradman Posted February 17, 2020 Share #28 Posted February 17, 2020 Do you use Magpul QD strap? One of the key reasons I use RRS is compatibility with Magpul. I think there are very fe others who support this excellent system.
fixedwheel Posted February 17, 2020 Share #29 Posted February 17, 2020 No, I don't use the Magpul system. Looked at it in teh past and decided it wasn't for me. For quick release options I have gone with Peak Design. However for my SL2 I treated myself to a Rock 'n Roll strap. As there is a lower than 0% chance of me buying a second SL2 body, I won't be needing fast changes of straps! 😉 John
hoppyman Posted February 18, 2020 Share #30 Posted February 18, 2020 (edited) After the announcement of a pre-order option for the coming SL2 base plate and L component, I asked RRS if the existing L component for the SL would fit the new SL2 base plate. I am told it will not. Both new items will be required. Anyone want a used SL base plate AND L component? 😂 Haah I should be able to track down the new owner of my SL and see if they want it. EDIT: Ouch the quoted shipping costs to Australia seem even higher than previously and more than double those from BH Photo (I had no idea they also market RRS) Shall have to weigh how keen I am to get the items ASAP Edited February 18, 2020 by hoppyman

It does fit securely and perfectly to the SL2. Its anti-twist too, due to a lip along one edge which can index against the forward bottom edge. I will use the drop notch in the ball head for portrait mode until I eventual get the new L Plate set. For preorders, for whatever reasons the shipping and tax costs to here (I am in Australia) are much lower through BHPhoto for that. The shopping costs for some reason from RRS now are much higher than for the last set I got from them. We also all pay extra tax on imports now with no threshold (to "level the playing field for local industry".... who don't make anything equivalent anyway. That's not the fault of the US dealers who are required by our law to collect it.

sarkleshark Posted March 8, 2020 Share #38 Posted March 8, 2020 I received my SL2 RRS base plate today and it ROCKS! as is the standard for RRS gear. Fits great, very light and it even has a strap slot on the shutter button side of the plate (No problem changing the battery with a strap attached here and without removing the rrs plate. I did not get the L bracket --yet. If you want Arca compatibility or second strap attachment point this plate is a no brainer.
Leicaiste Posted March 8, 2020 Share #39 Posted March 8, 2020 Luckily RRS kept the L component optional on the SL2 plate. I dislike one piece L plates like the plate they made for the Fuji GFX50R (even if I see why they did it like that in this instance).
