Chapel Porth Beach on the Cornish north coast has been a bit of an enigma for myself and Mrs O, we know that it exists and where it is, we have been to the beach car park, we have walked the SWCP above the beach numerous times, but we have failed to see the beach that appears online in many photographs, why?

Well it is only visible when the tide goes out, only at low tide can you wander on the sand under the towering cliffs, every visit we have made to the area had coincided with a high or highish tide, as a result no beach.

This week with a grey damp day clearing and the sun coming out, a check on tide times showed a low tide would combine with a setting sun, where to go? Only one place came to mind - Chapel Porth Beach. Grabbing my SL2 and attaching the Sigma 24-70/f2.8 Art II we headed off to find the elusive beach.

And it didn't disappoint, the views along the cliffs are stunning, you can see the Towanroath Engine House perched on the edge of the cliff, a reminder of the days when Cornwall was at the centre of the Tin industry, the wet sand allowing wonderful reflections along the coast and out to sea.

We even managed a proper sunset and were able to watch the sun sink gracefully into the sea, and not get swallowed up by cloud on the horizon. A lovely evening.

Looks like the SL2 isn’t popular as I am almost the only one posting…

Two others combined have as many or more posts than you on prior 2 pages.  It’s my most used camera these days, but I spend my time printing.

Took the SL2 and a couple of Sigmas to Adelaide a week ago. Didn't realise the IBIS would be so handy, very happy to be able to handhold longer exposures like this.

SL2 and 20 Sigma.

The shot on the bottom with the stroller and dog. I know it's not a great shot. But the subdued yet delicious colors there. For me it kinda has Leica written all over it. Colors are vibrant but always deliberate and delicate. Maybe it's subjective I dont know.
