Sorry, zampelis, but it's because of posts which knock the OP - who has a legitimate complaint - on some other pretext which upsets most contributors. I don't have a Q2 or Q so have no axe to grind over this.

Yes, the OP was at the emotional end of the spectrum and didn't give any details of what formed his / her opinion, but to say that he / she is wrong to worry about WiFi when (for example) the lens is fantastic is both blinkered and biased. Many subsequent comments have said the Q2's WiFi is poor and as such it is up to Leica to improve it - and quickly. Maybe there are better ways to transfer images to a computer, but that (again) ignores the original complaint, even if it was intended to be helpful.

@TeeDiddy:  The Q2 is a thing - it does not lie awake at night, plotting how it will destroy you and make your life a hellish quagmire of perpetual suffering and misery.

If the Q2 does not meet with your expectations (reasonable or otherwise), sell it and move on.  Problem solved.

The OP has every single right to become as emotional as he likes! As long as he is posting his comment on an open thread I too have the right to become as critical as I like... And of course you too have the right to become as patronising as you like.. We are all a happy company here.. Let us all now go back to our kindergarten...

As  I thought about this thread, I’ve thought maybe the original poster was a troll. A clever one trying to tear down a good product produced by a company he does not appreciate.   Or, if I were the conspiratorial type of person ... he could have “other” reasons to make the comments he has made. Who knows? Nevertheless, to call a product crap is not a thoughtful comment in a public forum even if you are pissed off.

 

 But I keep coming back to this forum because I enjoy Leica products and want to learn more about how best to use them. 
(Putting up with extreme and predictable comments is part of our age.)

 

I do not think that Leica is an evil and horrible corporation trying to cheat people out of their money by producing mere “Veblen” goods and otherwise crappy products.  I just don’t believe it!

I could always go back to Nikon or to the ubiquitous iPhone to make photographs, but that would be no fun!

@TeeDiddy The Wifi-Connection works just as it should with my mobile phone (Android 9) via the Leica Fotos App. I also tried it with an Apple iPad (IOS 13.?) last week, and it worked just as fine. Downloading pictures and controlling the camera - no problems. It would be nice if it connected a little bit faster, but it's still fast enough for me.

However, I was aware that additional (to me non-essential) functions like Wifi aren't part of Leica's strengths (although - as stated above - it works with my Q2) before I bought it (there were enough reviews of the Q1 and 2 which I read because I always do that before spending such an amount of money), I still decided to buy and use that camera because of its (to me) important advantages over so many other cameras which have to do with the original purpose of a camera: taking great pictures with one of the best lenses available with a simple user interface!

If Wifi is such an essencial feature to you, I suggest you sort it out with the leica store assistants at the location where you bought the camera (the people at my leica store are always very helpful) or you write to the customer support? If they can't help you and your Q2 is still under warranty, they might actually take it back and give you the money.

I don’t now this guy but let’s give him some leg room. He has had all sorts of problems trying to pair his Q2 which should be a straight forward process and important to his workflow.  Even when he went on the Q2 Leica Akademie program they recognised the issue and couldn’t solve it so suggested he contact Leica customer service.  He is not trying to land a spacecraft here but simply trying to do something which he expected from the camera and even the Leica Akademie ‘experts’ says it should. 

Ok he used an emotive word,  based on his frustration so big deal...who hasn’t at some point or other....inside or outside a public forum?

Now comments are emerging under the so called ‘joke’ tag about his supposed wife’s opinion. That stereotyping comment is ok is it and all part of a Leica mature forum?

We ALL feel the pain the OP is going thro'. A little light hearted chatter is something we all deal with.. I've had issues connecting my new Canon 90D to the iPhone App.. After a few conversations with Canon direct, all helpful but none solving the issue, one operator suggested replacing my Routers etc,, and even laughingly suggested changing to a new internet carrier..Oh what fun!!.. I'm sure his wife is a loving and caring lady & he himself is a gentleman of the highest calibre..  I'm seriously considering purchasing a Q-P, feel free to laugh, comment & offer any lighthearted banter you so wish..       L

Yes, but the fact that others are able to pair their phone suggests a few alternative explanations to me. For instance a mismatch between his app version and the camera firmware, or an unusual WiFi setting on his phone. Or (unlikely) simple user error.

Alternatively, I'm sure a relaxed and friendly conversation with his local Leica dealer would sort out the issue,  his camera may well have a fault within the Wi-Fi circuits..

The comments you refer to could not be construed as mocking, spiteful or malicious by any reasonable standard. 

Last I heard, no one on this forum ever died from a little good natured merriment...

For sure they can....in isolation and with a bunch of like minded people enjoying banter then no. That wasn’t the situation here.

The guy was over emotional about a function which could have been tested more fully before purchase  however if Leica implied there was a function which was not working then that was an issue of note. Many  people accept the blurred edges of marketing hype and adjust their expectations accordingly and also weigh the sum of strengths  over weaknesses. I doubt TeeDiddy did this but regardless he has every right to hate his q2 

When Mr Zampelis took a similar emotional decision to ‘leave’ this forum  partially due to this post, quite rightly he received support asking him to reconsider. I admire his work and opinion and I would like to add my voice in the hope he too will reconsider.
