My color was blue, but 67 was a great year for the 'vette.

Playing 'spot the anachronism' with The Sealed Knot (the English Civil War re-enactment society), as they stormed Huntingdon Castle yesterday.

In my ignorance, I did not realize England had a civil war.  On the other side of the pond, of course we had one and I hope we will not have another one.  Great shots, all of them.

Ours was a major step towards the supremacy of parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy. It all went pear-shaped when Cromwell died, but subsequent monarchs all knew there was a limit to their power (viz. they didn't have the power to keep their head attached their neck if parliament wanted otherwise).

The Sealed Knot was the earliest re-enactment society in this country (when did such notions start in America?). My school history teacher, a parliamentarian, formed one of the first regiments, around 1968. I was a pikeman, and fought in the Battle of Marston Moor that year.

Decided to see what the Q2 could do compared to my new Z7ii with the Leica R 100/2.8 APO.  Here is the Q2 shot and it is FABULUOS.  This is 24 shots stacked in Lightroom 6 since the flower has so much depth.  I chose F4 to try and keep the background fence somewhat soft.

Be sure to click on it a few times to see it large.

Thank you for the history lesson.  I was not sure about your question pertaining to our civil war reenactments, so I looked it up.  This is a quote from an article in the Smithsonian Magazine:

Sue Eisenfeld for The New York Times, "We tend to think of Civil War reenactment as a modern phenomenon, a way for people in the 20th and 21st centuries to experience a taste of what the conflict was like. But in fact, staged battles began while the war was still underway. Known as 'sham battles,' 'mock battles' or 'mimic battles,' these battles were enacted for a variety of reasons: entertainment, practice and to demonstrate to civilians back home what happened during the war."

It further states that modern reenactments started in the 1960's at the centennial.  So, I learned something.  Thanks.  I have shot a few of them, but before my Q2.  They have been on hold in our town due to Covid, but maybe next year.  If things keep being crazy over here maybe it will not be a reenactment, but a second event.  I certainly hope not.

Very nice.  I assume you used a rail, but I did not know that you could combine it in Lightroom 6.  I ask because I stack all of my orchids.

Splendid and complete report!

But, that triggers thinking what to say about the human specie loving wars, giving the to-day time...

Thanks to actualize this historical battle, superb reconstitution.
