Dan,  Just for fun:  How about doing a 75mm-equivalent crop on the first photo in your gallery series, zeroing in on the globe?  Would love to see how clear the resolution is of you taking the shot!

 Thanks so much in advance!

A different image, but one where I focused on the globe from about the same position and it wasn't as close to edge of frame

Wouldn't say it's 75mm crop, and it's obviously not from the centre - but it's a 1547 x 1547 crop

It's looking pretty good, except I do see a lot of noise.  I have been shooting with a Q for almost a year.  Love the camera but I do notice more noise than I would get shooting with my Fuji x2  in low light situations.  I am still waiting for my Q2 from B&H ordered when Leica made the announcement.  No ETA.   Anyone in the U.S. get delivery?

Always AF, I half-press the shutter a few times whilst lining up the shot to get the focus near, and then press it all the way in one go when taking the photo. It reacts very quickly this way.

I found the colours hold up pretty good for a while beyond ISO 1250 when doing some tests

Here are some ISO 2000 / 1600 images quickly processed in colour

Hello Dan, great great picture. What metering were you using for this? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, the full scene evaluative metering and adjust the exposure compensation by eye if needed.

I could go full manual, but it just makes it more akward when i want to shoot people not on stage and need more ISO.

Dan

Most impressed by these B/W shots.

I'm umming and erring on upgrading from Q to Q2. Had Q from Day 1 in June 2015.

Now find I mostly use M10/50 Lux and am thinking or getting rid of all but that and 21/f2.8 (Zeiss) and 90/f2.8 T-E (i.e. a small 21/50/90 kit), but may keep 35/F2 ASPH, as the Q2 would seem to pretty much do everything else.

Do you think the Q is a non-brainer?

Regards

If i were to combo the Q and the M10 (again) it would be the 50mm Lux.

I don't like having overlaps where I'm left wondering which camera to use and why. Because I'd probably end up never using the 35mm, as 28mm +  AF would be preferable to me.

The Q2 just condenses that further into a single package with AF, of course there are some trade-offs. Severely low light photography where noise is significant will not crop so well.

Indeed I used 35mm almost exclusively for some years and I like the idea of the Q2 for 28 and 35 (more urban) and M10 for 50 and 90 (more travel). Rarely go to 21 and would keep the 35 for wider low light on the M10. That sort of combo suggests I can take one camera most of the time and both occasionally.

I just love the files out of the Q2, I don't get it when I hear how the original Q produces a better image.  Even working with these large files has not been a problem for me.

Eli Broad Art Museum on the campus of Michigan State University.  Designed by Zaha Hadid.  Even after 7 years of living near this astonishing structure, I cannot figure out the best way to photograph it.  The exterior is entirely stainless steel and glass and, to the best of my knowledge, there is not a right angle in the entire building.  Q2.  Thanks for looking, Mark.

One of the first of the new Q2...  the amount of detail is insane and reminds me of my time with a Hasselblad 50CV digital back
