Better to be the brokest man in the Leica store with the heaviest camera bag and the biggest smile than be the richest man in the cemetery.  😎

I appreciate the notion that the FLE Summilux lenses out-resolve film (except maybe Velvia projected), and that an earlier version of each lens is a more appropriate 'value' for film shooters.  I only shoot film with Leicas, so the earlier versions work for me.  For high resolving power, the V5 50mm Summicron is plenty sharp for fine grained film, IMHO.  For the classic Leica film look, there are lots of older versions that render beautifully.  On the other hand, if 'value' isn't all that important to you, then why not indulge yourself with the best of the best?

Not to worry - if it turns out we can't take our Leicas with us,  word is there is a Leica store in Heaven and prices are 1/1000th what the prices are here on earth.

Unfortunately for those headed to Hell, Satan only sells Sony cameras and lenses there - and at five times their earthly prices.

In the past i would easily sell a leica lens to accommodate another, in the end i end up like chasing after own tail like keep buying back

and it happened not just once on every popular focal length, lessons learnt the hard way

Sounds a lot like my own experience. But in the end, some lenses will pass the hard test and remain.

I would not sell the FLE, it will not make your film photos any worse, there are many advantages on the modern lenses than pure sharpness, for example newer coating with better flare resistance and higher contrast, better design metal screw on hood than the flimsy plastic clip on hood that disconnect with slightest bump..etc

unless I am looking for smaller size and vintage look  35 summilux like the V1 or 7 elements for the film M and I can only choose one, then I would sell the FLE.
