I have one of the earliest M7s and the flare does crop up. Did the M4-P (or M6s for that matter) have any “flare” too? With the M4-2 when the stop using a condenser in the design. That said my two hands are more than enough to count the occurrence of the infamous patch flare i noticed and was worth mentioning in more than 30 years. I also had 2 M4 and now M-A. I like the M4-P finder more than the M4. The M-A is the best, one day i'l have the 28, 75 and 135 lines hidden on my M-A

The flare issue was very obvious with my M6 & not only outdoors, occurring frequently indoors (with lighting) - the difference (improvement) was dramatic when I obtained an MP
105012 Posted July 6, 2022 Share #183 Posted July 6, 2022 Some more commentary of the Leica M flare question: http://www.nemeng.com/leica/020b.shtml "In April 2003 Erwin Puts created a RF Flare page on his www-site where he concludes that of all the M cameras only the Leica M3 is truly flare-free owing to its more linear RF design." nicci78 Posted July 6, 2022 Share #184 Posted July 6, 2022 Flare is real. But it has a cure : upgrade the viewfinder. It is costly. Just keep the upgrade invoice. You’ll be able to pass the cost to the future owner if you decide to sell it later.

Huge price bump : M-A is now 4,950€ VAT inc. MP 5,050€ VAT inc. in most European countries with 20% VAT For a mere 2% of difference or 100€ I am not sure why we should choose an M-A over the MP. Especially since the MP got a new gorgeous leather. the MP's "new" leather is the same leather that the M-A had since inception in 2014, but I agree that if you're lightmeter agnostic, the MP is a good pickup (coming from an M-A owner here).
