Shelve dust?

Leica should address this known design flaw of a wonderful camera series, by sending a replacement latch free of cost.

They used to in Europe, and imo this is great marketing for keeping new entries into the Leica world happy, for lowest expenses.

I see no need for an off-hand answer, reminds me of dust from the days of old.

I am waiting for a response for Leica USA...too bad there is only one repair facility these days. I wonder how much damage will be done the to battery door supporting the battery while the latch is missing.

There are plenty of those pieces on eBay, Leica sent me one for free a couple of years ago though. No need to send it to Leica for that, it will take you 2 minutes to install it, and yes, at least with the X1, the battery puts some undesirable pressure on the door, I don't know if can be damage it.

The battery tabs for X cameras are obtainable from Leica service centres, although they are a bit fiddly to fit.  I spend part of my time in a Leica dealership and we fitted one to a used X camera the other day.
