Rumours are nothing but rumours. The existing f/1.4 Summilux 50mm is an ASPH and APO from what I understand. It is bigger and heavier than the wonderful APO Summicron, which I prefer. Small and light will always beat big and heavy for me. What difference does 1 stop really make?

Same difference as between 3200 and 6400 iso or 1/50s and 1/100s i.e. negligible or decisive depending upon the subject matter and the camera. Now if small and light will always beat big and heavy the Summicron non apo should be the winner ;). Just kidding i like much the apo as well but i miss the compactness of Summiluxes and Summicrons of my youth .

I’m new to all this. My Q was the epiphany for me and the beauty of LEICA lenses.

But rangefinders do not work for my eyes but I manually focus most images with focus assist.

Canon EF and RF lenses are almost all huge so I decided to try old M glass on my Canon mirrorless...

Epiphany #2 — with adapters for both M39 and modern M, all’s right with the world.

50mm? This is sacrilege but my 1980s Industar-61 50mm f-2.8 (M390)creates gorgeous images even almost wide open. And tomorrow my 90mm Elmar arrives!

When I use manual lenses I am fastidious with composition. And the focus point zooms 6x or 19x for extreme manual focus.

Someday I’ll get the SL and shoot M glass but for now...
