However, Leonardo Da Vinci would have taken issue with your statement, since one could argue that his model for the Mona Lisa was hardly beautiful...

I don’t think so. To the contrary. The contours of Mona Lisa’s round full face have very much in common with the more rounded, smoother body  of the SL2.

I agree with @ron777...

Who cares what the camera looks like... it's the functionality that matters. Ergonomics are a different story... I really like the feel of the S1R.

I am so happy with the S1R, especially the IBIS and brighter EVF. When you consider the fact I paid 3K for it, it is REALLY difficult to justify the purchase of an SL2.

It would have to be MUCH MUCH better, and I don't see that happening.

That until released remains an enigma.

Maybe both the S1R and the SL2 are not good enough to buy them. (The SL2 because it cannot be so much better than the S1R. And the S1R because it does not have the Leica feeling.) So in the worst case I am prepared to wait even longer for a model that is “better” than both. It will come sooner or later ...

To save 4500... I will deal with the lack of "feeling". To me... the Leica IQ comes from the glass, not the body.

Where are you located? Actually, I am a Neurologist, but people seem to have a hard time distinguishing.

Long island... but I am from Florida, and practiced there from 1998-2003 in Fort Lauderdale.

I’m in Boca Raton, but migrated from Mount Sinai NYC in 1977. I’m retired now. I’ll bet you knew Gary Gieske, or perhaps Wilbur Helmus, before he passed?

The name is familiar, but I don't believe that we've ever met. However, it's nice to meet someone with a similar background, although I'd guess that you are a tad younger than I.

My practice was primarily in Boca, and when I'd arrived, back in 1977, Boca Community Hospital was the only show in town, aside from nearby North Broward, but traveling I95 for consults at all hours of the day and night became tiresome, and I'd resigned from NBH.  I miss the challenge of practice and difficult cases, but retirement has allowed the time for the perpetuation of a lifelong hobby—photography—that several years back had turned professional and then back to hobby.
