PaulJohn Posted May 26, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Some of you will remember a recent thread where I sought advice on a trip to Israel. Well I'm back. I only shot three rolls of film, two on Provia 100F and one on Fujicolor C200. Both films impressed but the Fujichrome Provia really wowed me with it's exceptional resolution, colours and rendering with the Sonnar 50mm 1.5 on the Leica M-A. I have put my best on Flickr (click through to see the full set) Provia 100F Welcome, dear visitor! Israel 2019 by Paul Nadin, on Flickr I shot mostly on my Sony A7Riii with 24-105mm f4 for its versatility but have much more satisfaction from the film shots. Here's a shot on C200. A little more grain but still very nice I think. 000008.jpg by Paul Nadin, on Flickr Another C200. I could not find the auto white balance setting on the M-A. Guest Posted June 1, 2019 Share #2 Posted June 1, 2019 Very nice shots. Do you happen to remember your exposure settings for the busker shot? It looks wide open, or close to it - I tend to struggle with these on an M, through bumping on the minimum shutter speed of 1/1000.
PaulJohn Posted June 1, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) Thank you It was 2.8 - early evening Wider would have been nice but as you say limited by shutter speed. An ND filter would have helped. Edited June 1, 2019 by PaulJohn
A miller Posted June 7, 2019 Share #4 Posted June 7, 2019 love love love, Paul. Looks like you covered your bases and I hope that overall it was a wonderful trip. I am on my way back there for 7 weeks at the end of the month and I am dreaming of what I will be shooting
PaulJohn Posted June 8, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted June 8, 2019 (edited) Looks like we might go again next year. We spent too much time travelling from Tel Aviv to various locations and not enough time at the locations. Next time we will stay in multiple locations to allow more time exploring. Also I will be showing more film next time. I was very pleasantly surprised that nearly all my best shots were on film. I was worried that shooting slide film without a meter would produce more exposure errors than it did. Really, really like the colours of Provia 100F in the sunshine.
