Nice - glad to hear you are keeping it in the end - as I know how much you love this lens. And you have done great work with it.

I was close to selling mine, as 50mm is my least used FL, but glad it’s still in my bag as it’s such a unique lens.

thanks mate, yeah i think it's uniqueness that makes me keep coming back.. i mostly use the noctiluxes for my portrait works where the 50mm focal length is most preferred, we are fortunate to own one :)

Back in 2011, I did a series of images over three nights at the greyhound racing in Glasgow, for the Herald magazine. I challenged myself to shoot the entire thing on just a 50mm lens. But it was the 50mm E58 Noctilux version 1. I used the M9 I had at the time, and shot every image at F1. The picture of the little boy looking over the wall was used across two pages.

Stupidly sold that lens in 2012 - it had cost me £900 in 2006, and I got £3000 for it. E58 Noctiluxes are now going for almost DOUBLE that amount. It's insane. I sometimes miss that lens, but I could never afford to buy one back.

Never sell a Leica lens, as they say. I think it's especially true for the exotic ones they don't make any more.
