What do you mean by min aperture of f16? I am only using manual lenses, but I have not had any issues using it at f5.6 or f8 etc...do you mean that it will not let you stop down more than f16? So you cannot use 22 etc? That might make sense regarding diffraction etc.

Yes, it will not let you stop down beyond f16; f22, etc cannot be used. Any value between wide open and f16 should be ok. And, any shutter speed between 1s and 1/16000, and ISO value max 3200.

I suspect you are right ...... the algorithm that combines and processes the images is probably compromised by diffraction.

Right today i got a S1r for the next week.  With the S1r i got severeal Sigma lenses (120-300mm f2.8/  135mm 1.8, 14mm 1.8 CANON Moun) and adapted them to the S1r-> fully working in Afs.  Adapting them to the SL i was able to take pictures but only in manual mode (no AF), but firmware 3.4 on the SL. With this i took the firmware 3.5  on the SL --> i got the information "not supported objective firmware" . No more photos are possible...what a phantastic job done by Leica the firmware...

I'm beginning to suspect that Panasonic L bodies will be compatible and work well with all Leica, Panasonic and Sigma L mount lenses ..... plus various adapters, but that the situation may not be so good for SL and SL2 bodies

That' what i am thinking about..... we will see what the Leica world will bring us... some day.

Is it Leica’s problem to make their camera work with Canon lenses?

Is this with the MC-21 adaptor? If so it’s already been stated by Sigma that it won’t work on the original SL. The Novoflex version does though with AF (but MF on the Panasonic). The SL2 should be fine as it will have the newer processors required to run the MC-21.

Also lenses from Sigma that are converted to L mount will work on the SL as do the Panasonic lenses.

Thanks for your opinion. As i wrote 6 weeks ago:  SL firmware 3.4 WORKED in this setting. After updating the firmware to 3.5 i got the  screen info. Not only to my point of view it is a Leica problem and Sigma knows about the problem, but shared the information after my tests (surly not only because of me...).
Annoying to me was that i had to do a (bigger) photo session right that weekend and the planned workflow was completely killed by this "small" thing.  Unfortunately there was no chance to get 14mm 1.4 or a 135mm 1.8 right that weekend connected to the SL so the S1r did the job.

Interesting. I have one SL with 3.3 and one with 3.5. Neither supports the adaptor. I'll try and find 3.4 and see if it works.

I knew about the incompatibility before I was able to even order a MC-21. They made that announcement in March. Since I have the Novoflex it didn't matter to me.

Well that's a surprise! I loaded 3.4 and there is an image on screen and the camera fires.

However I have some anomalies and not a lot of time to test them out. Firstly if you put on an APSC lens (I did just for the firmware update) and then the MC21 you'll still see the APSC box in the viewfinder. The whole image shows with the crop box in the middle of the screen/EVF. Secondly, the first lens I tried (Canon EF 24-70 F4LIS) underexposes dramatically. Like three stops. If you set the EC to +3 the recorded file is close but the EVF is almost completely blown out. Follow the meter and the image is waaaaay under.

I'll try some more lenses later.
