leicamr Posted July 25, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted July 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) If anybody watched the ITV 1 program last night, 'David Beckham New Beginnings', may have observed that he was holding a Leica M8 fitted with a 35mm lens with binoculars. Â I wonder if it is his or just having a bit of fun with somebody elses in the studio. He was holding it correctly! Â Mark

stunsworth Posted July 26, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted July 26, 2007 He's a footballer, not a contestant on brain of Britain, or a photographer. Â As far as I'm aware neither Bertrand Russell or HCB were great footballers, but I can't remember anyone taking the mickey out of them because they couldn't score from a direct free kick. Â People have different skills and it should come as no surprise that someone can have outstanding talent in one area, but not another. The guy admits himself that he's not 'clever' but as football managers say, the boy done good.  Good luck to him.

andybarton Posted July 26, 2007 Share #16  Posted July 26, 2007 If you ever get the chance, see the Parkinson interview with them from a couple of years ago. They came across as a perfectly decent couple.  However...  This made me laugh a few weeks ago  "At the Driving License Center"  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJE6wOndkKM&mode=related&search  Watch from about 3 mins 20 seconds in. miami91 Posted July 26, 2007 Share #18 Â Posted July 26, 2007 ESPN did a one hour special prior to the Galaxy v Chelsea game last weekend, called "Beckham: Made in America" or some such thing. Wasn't a very interesting show, and Posh hardly appeared. But I'd have to say Becks came off as a very decent and very down-to-earth person. Â As for his money, looks, and footballing talent, I was already an admirer. MLS' future as anything other than a second tier league will be dependent on lots of decent European players following Beckham's lead (and/or the best American players staying put) --- Becks can't do it alone. But I think there's a lot of potential. Football/Soccer won't displace the NBA, MLB, or NFL in the USA, but it doesn't have to. Â Jeff.
DaveEP Posted July 27, 2007 Share #19 Â Posted July 27, 2007 Football/Soccer won't displace the NBA, MLB, or NFL in the USA, but it doesn't have to. Â Football (err... the one where you kick the ball with your foot !) won't replace the other sports in the US because there are not enough opportunities for commercial breaks on the TV. It's the advertising dollars on TV that pretty much dictates this stuff.
