Hi there,

anyone with experience about CL plus the Summaron 28/5.6? I read many enthusiastic articles about this gem, but I am not sure if it can deliver the special look on the smaller sensor of the CL. I sold my M, no chance with my old eyes and their glasses. Alternative might be just an old, a real old lens, but they are often mit cloudiness (right word?). Thanks for any help!

Best

Philipp

There are others with the Summaron 28 on the CL, but I have the Summaron 35/2.8, which is another compact option. It looks good on the CL body. Mine is a clean version, with no haze, but it takes 'soft' (low contrast) images wide open - which I find attractive for the right subjects. The colour output is noticeably poorer compared to the Summilux-M 35 FLE, which I also have, so I keep the Summaron mainly for B&W.

Here's an example of an old Summaron 35/3.5 on a full-frame SL. You can crop to get an approximate idea of APS-C.

+1. For contrasty and saturated results, my Biogon 35/2.8 beats my Summaron 35/2.8 hands down below f/8. It is sharper at edges and corners, flares less and has less CA. My Summaron is a goggled one for M3 though do i don't use it much anyway.

I like it thus far, but will shoot the Summaron on my M bodies for the "special" look. On the CL I get some gentle bokeh wide open. 43mm eqv. and a real compact kit with the CL.

I'd love to see how the Summaron 28/5.6 compares to the Voigtländer 28/3.5. I have the latter and it produces "special" quality photos on the CL, and I have it coded to work with the Summaron 28 lens profile. :D

I have some CVs, my favorite the new 50/f1.2 asph. Their new line of f1.2 asph lens are terrific. I did pick up the Ultra Wide Heliar 12mm (latest version) which was discounted big time, and impressed with it on my M bodies and the CL. I got the Summaron on an open box demo discount so saved a few hundred.

it looks amazing on my M-P 240 Safari, but it makes for a compact street kit on the CL.

Nice!

Here's the Color Skopar 28mm f/3.5 on the CL:

And here's a quick snap with it, wide open, ISO 3200 @ f/3.5 @ 1/15, at the near focus limit:

There's a little pincushion distortion but not much, and easily corrected. Beyond that, it's pretty darn sharp corner to corner.
