stuny Posted July 23, 2007 Share #11 Posted July 23, 2007 Andy - Fabulous, and right up there with your best lighthouse shots. Wonderful sky, balance of land and sky, tonal range and contrast.
JE Posted July 23, 2007 Share #12 Posted July 23, 2007 Andy, Photos like this, Nature's power and beauty, are always humbling. You've rendered both beautifully. The layering makes this photo particularly powerful...the very low clouds weighing on the land and the height of them...great tones and clarity as well. andybarton Posted July 23, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted July 23, 2007 Wow, thanks for the responses, guys. It's all about the light, and being there to catch it This was with the DMR and 28ROM, converted to B&W in PS3 For anyone interested, these dunes used to stretch 500m further out to sea 100 years ago, and they continue to recede at around 5m per year. It is noticeable, even if you only visit once every couple of years. There is a caravan park from the 1960s, complete with caravans, buried under the current dunes. No doubt they will re-emerge from the face of the dunes here in due course. Blackpool Tower can just be seen in the distance at the extreme left of the photo.
