I just got this on on my SL using my 90mm APO SL lens. I get the same error if i attach it to my CL. Putting a M lens on my SL is fine leading me to think it is the SL lens that is the problem.

On the SL I can get into the menu but i can not get any live view or view through the lens. Sometimes the live view will keep coming on and off. I can not change the mode either with this lens attached.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Alcohol on a lens cloth.

I took it to my dealer and it gave the same error on his SL. Looks like it needs to go back to Germany :((

Wow... that sucks!! I wonder how long till it comes back. Hopefully not too long.

did you try any other SL lens or TL lens ?

Yes. Everything works except this lens. It doesn’t work on the CL either. My dealer said he has never come across this issue with SL lenses, nor any lens...

Give us some follow-up when you hear from Leica after they receive the lens.

Will do. I hope this is not a common problem but I have found nothing on the web to suggest that it is. I have to admit it has unfortunately dampened my experience of Sl lenses.

My impression is that the SL system has (very) few problems, and no serious issues since the launch 3.5 yrs ago.

Time to provide feedback. My 90mm SL summicron arrived back from Wetzlar today which brought great excitement.

IT DOESN'T WORK!

To say i am annoyed is putting it mildly. Exactly the same issue remains. Tried it on both my SL and CL, which work fine with other CL lenses and M lenses. Spoke to Uwe at Leica and he was very nice and promised to look into it but come on Leica!!!!!!!!!!

This is more than enough to make me dump the whole SL system.

The invoice from l

Leica (free as in warranty) doesn't really mention much as you can see. What to do now as I have a trip in 4 weeks!

OMGoodness what a nuisance and I can imagine your frustration.  Surely in these circumstances Leica can offer to expedite matters - no way it needs to take more than two weeks maximum surely!

I am anxiously awaiting return of my M10 which has been at Wetzler around three weeks, have noticed that it says pending shipment so hoping I get it back soon.  I have a theory that Leica takes a while to encourage you to buy something else in the meantime, I've had my finger hovering over an order button on a Leica dealers site for days.

Hope you get it sorted!

I can just about accept a new lens breaking down but when it is away for a further 2 months and comes back the same it might be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Come on Leica, you can do better!
