Yes, the image was cropped. If the bird were closer there would be much more detail in the head.

You may want to checkout Stuarts bird images (STUNY) on this forum. He takes some very good examples of what the VL 114 can do in the hands of a skilled photographer.

Wonderful! It reminds me the one who flew quite close my glider for more than one minute, tens of years ago. Unfortunately, I had no Leica at hand...and it was too "bumpy" to leave the control, anyway.

Thank you Pecole. That must have been exciting being in the air along with the bird. What an experience!
