People sometimes pick the cards up the wrong way; it's better to never touch those contacts. I doubt this will make a difference, but it's easy to try. What memory card are you using? How many memory cards do you have? Does it do the same thing with different memory cards, different brands, etc. Which format are you using? Fat32 or ExFat ? I believe both formats work in the M10, so maybe try to format it with the other format. With computers, one could do a "low level format". It takes a long time to complete, but maybe do that, in the computer, then re-format again in the camera. There used to be programs that could analyze memory. Not sure if they're available for, and work with, SD cards, but worth a try. Also, try formatting the card in the computer, then in the M10 WITHOUT formatting the card in the camera. Did some other tests convincing me that it is NOT related to SD cards AT ALL - it happens without any SD card inserted as well (if you usually start the camera without the SD card, you'll get a warning on the screen). In my case, nothing showed up on the screen, the menu is not showing up, but the shutter is triggering etc. I wasn't able to correlate to battery levels, it happened with two batteries, fully or partially charged. IMAGEPOWER Posted May 7, 2020 Share #26 Posted May 7, 2020 My M10 Monochrom (bought in Feb 2020) had exactly the same problem! I bought 3 new, different SD cards, still the same problem. Happened more often, when battery status was beneath 50%. Fortunately my Leica dealer (with whom I have had a long business relationship as I bought loads of big Nikon glass and cameras being a sports photographer) exchanged the camera. I have shot >2,000 photos with the exchanged model (late Feb 2020, earlier serial number than original model), no problem. Funny, as I was searching the net for that problem, but found nothing. Simply because I searched for M10 Monochrom. sarkleshark Posted June 29, 2020 Share #30 Posted June 29, 2020 HI, My M10 did this a few months ago for about a week then functioned normally and then started doing it again two weeks ago for a day. Both times the camera had a delay turning on with the framelines no showing up for about 5 seconds , then the "sd" in the optical finder LED display. firing the shutter release fired the shutter but no image recorded. eventually any where form 4-8 shutter activation's to a 10-20 sec time delay the shutter would give the long shutter sound like it was in live view and the red led on the back of the camera would activate and an images could be taken. It did NOT seem dependent o specific sd cards-i tried numerous-or battery level or different batteries. My impression is that it may have something to do with live view activation or being in live view when previously turning off camera and there is a long time to activate. The second time this happened , I turned on the camera while holding the live view button and it immediately activated ( with the long shutter sound of live view) and came to life without further occurrence---??coincidence or something to do with live view activation / not previoulsy shutting down correctly with a live view/shutter software /hardware loop . Completely unscientific but my personal observation.. It works fine now and I love the M10!! 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

So, had to send the camera to Wetzlar where it got repaired (change of control board) under warranty and returned to me 3 weeks later. Now it works fine. evikne Posted October 4, 2020 Share #35 Posted October 4, 2020 Suddenly I got the same problem. The camera worked perfectly fine yesterday. But today it is suddenly dead. "Sd" is blinking weakly in the viewfinder, but it doesn't seem that the card or battery has anything to do with the problem. The rear screen is black, regardless of what I am doing. The shutter works, but nothing is recorded to the SD card. And the two RF pictures don't align properly anymore, there is a small vertical displacement that hasn't been there before. I guess this cannot occur without a physical shock to the camera, which I have not exposed it to. So this is currently a big mystery. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

A blinking " sd " is visible in the viewer. After a delay of aproximate 15 sec. ,frameline appear and camera works often normally . All picture taken while blinking are not on card and screen stays black . I tried everything , like complete reset of camera , re-enter firmware , change SD cards , use old cards , format them on computer , exclude LV view , used sarkleshark trick mentioned above , changed battery of course . So , this old defect can also happen on a brand new camera . Customer service is very reactive and asked to sent the camera . Logic board is probably involved . Good To Be Retired Posted December 7, 2020 Share #37 Posted December 7, 2020 Some time back I purchased some SanDisc SD cards from an unknown seller on eBay. It's been so long I don't actually recall their labeled capacity, but apparently they were counterfeit cards of a much lower capacity and quality. They behaved much the same, stopping operation after reaching only a portion of their capacity and sometimes not saving anything at all. SanDisc at the time had a webpage displaying how to identify genuine vs counterfeit cards and I received a refund from the seller. I now only purchase from known (i.e. B & H, Adorama, and so on) and that seems to have eliminated the problem. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

If it is acting weird right out of the box, you can ask for - and should get - a replacement from the store's stock. If it starts malfunctioning two months down the road, you may have to send it in for warranty service, particularly if you have already registered the camera's warranty in your name.
