Indeed — and it was made in early December 2014. That puts to rest a speculation of whether Leica made them all at once or kept going with demand, as @ramarren and others had discussed a couple years out when it was still available new at the dealers. It’s interesting how it’s almost gone everywhere. What I realized is that it is important for me what æsthetics the camera has — the beautiful Hasselblad X1D wins me over over functional Fujifilm GFX50 in the medium format space. Thus the M60 is an additional pleasure to behold and make excellent photos with. Getting ready to use it, I’ve reread every piece of the Web content ever written about it, including all the threads here, by @IkarusJohn and others who had or have it. It’s funny how the shutter sound was worried about when in reality it is the same as the M10. The strap lugs are unnecessary for me as I’m using Luigi cases and he makes a special one for it, with the strap being a whole with the case. And the provided case is the most beautiful one, supposed to hang on your neck and then just right length. Going back in time just on the cusp of the M10-D might seem paradoxical, but the very idea of the screen lessdigital was born with the M60, and the original debates were fresh and groundbreaking. The M10-D provides a way out so it’ll never be quite the same, although a beauty all of its own. I’m proud Leica trusts there are a few folks who will appreciate this amazing achievement and actually use it for years to come. Just got the batteries — boy do they last for days! One day, I might pick up another M Edition 60 set, but the M10-D has more appeal at the moment.

elmadi Posted March 4, 2019 Share #26 Posted March 4, 2019 Hello, I just joined forum and I seek anyone's advice : I am tempted to trade my second hand M60 for the new M10 for the reason of weight and convenience. I love my M60 but it's weight bothers me during my travel plus I miss the LCD screen at times. I have owned my M60 for 2 years now. Thank you for any advice. Just curious, can you share the M60 serial number (as xxx/600) if you don't mind of course.

My M60 is one of 600 while the M10 is one of many. If Only have extra cash lying around; I will just buy the M10 body

a.noctilux Posted February 2, 2020 Share #33 Posted February 2, 2020 Well, for me M-D (typ 262) fills the Edition 60 GAS . Not even wanting (needing ?) M10-D nor M10 Monochrom ...maybe the reason from aging a bit more. 2

ramarren Posted July 31, 2024 Share #36 Posted July 31, 2024 Someone posted a reaction to one of my posts, which brought me back to this thread this morning. @setuporg: I hope you're still enjoying your M60! Lovely camera. A lot of time has passed ... I foolishly sold my M-D 262 (one of the few cameras in my life I've regretted selling) some years ago now. And then I re-vested myself with an M10 Monochrom. Which I liked so much, I acquired an M10-R as well so as to have a similar color camera. And I'm happy enough still with these digital cameras (a couple of years on) that most of what I've been playing with in newer acquisitions has been film cameras, the most recent of which is a very nice 1946 Leica IIIc that I wrote about in another thread. There's definitely something very compelling about these old Barnaks that I'd completely lost sight of (the last Barnak I had was in 1985... never thought I'd go that way again ...) and I'm very happy to become reacquainted with their charm. I've just loaded up another roll of Delta 400 in the IIIc and this roll I'll shoot with the Voigtländer Color-Skopar 28/3.5 and 50/2.5. Onwards! setuporg Posted January 29 Author Share #37 Posted January 29 @ramarren, I've just noticed this, apparently my mention was not a real mention above.:) I'm thoroughly enjoying the M60. After a quick spell with M11P/D, I got back to the M60/M246 and then added an M-P 240 for its color rangefinder video to complement the M246 B&W one. It's important for me while the kids are still young. I wish I'd not started with the M10, as that required separate film cameras, It's not so bad for Q2/SL2, but having just one is magical sometimes. I've gone through a film camera phase as well, adding a Hexar RF Limited, Zeiss Ikon ZM, Pentax ILX, Contax GS2, and my favorites. Contarex Bullseye and Super. It all started with seeing a foto of Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, with an Exakta, so I had to get that. However, the reality is I only use the Hasselblad Xpan regularly for its panoramas, which scan into 168MB files so beautifully it feels worth taking along. The rest are more of a series of fun ideas.
ramarren Posted January 30 Share #38 Posted January 30 "..a series of fun ideas." Sounds like my film camera collection now. I'm still enjoying the Leica M10 Monochrom and M10-R, the Leica IIIc, and added yet another Leica to the mess in the form of an M6TTL with 0.85x finder—a brilliant camera! But the very latest additions to my 'fun ideas' has been refurbishments of a Voigtländer Vito II that I rescued from the trash and a Voigtländer Vitessa that I bought inexpensively. Both are now working perfectly and prove delightful. AND ... there's always an 'AND' you know ... the Kodak Retina IIIc that I bought for next to nothing (because it had a badly dented top cover and a bad meter) has been customized by discarding the meter entirely and fitting a IIc top cover, and it's gotten a full CLA. This camera is one of my favorites as it is beautifully shaped, trim and sweet in the hand, and, being a folder, it slips into a big pocket or a small bag easily with the superb Schneider 50mm f/2 lens completely protected. The 35mm and 85mm accessory lenses work beautifully (if with some deliberation...) and it makes superb photos. Welcome, dear visitor! Meanwhile I’ve sent my M10 to Allendale (NJ) for reattaching the decoupled ISO knob, apparently a not infrequent occurrence, and was leisurely scanning eBay for M60 deals until I suddenly found one. So I’m strangely likely to end up with both an M60 and the upcoming M10-D. The M-D has never appealed to me being a kind of a commoditized M60 without its unique properties. So M10-D will completely supersede the M-D, but nothing ever will be the first as the M60 is. BTW I’m in Oakland, and saying it with the residual Russian accent often leads to keen interest in Auckland among the fellow Americans, that I’m sorry to quickly disappoint.:) Edited February 4 by Anthony MD 🤔
