Not this time around. I was in the Okavango Delta and there is not too much suitable habitat for them there.

Shame! My wife and I visited a couple of safari parks when in South Africa a few years back, and she was particularly keen to see and photograph those, but we never found one. Maybe was down to the terrain, but I think it was just bad luck. Never saw a lion either,  but did see leopards and wild dogs, which were said to be rarer than lions where we were.

Great collection you have though, makes me think a trip to Botswana and SA maybe not too far away for us. 2019 could be the year!

But I do have a Ground Hornbill for you...  I will have a look in my archives for your Secretary Bird.  For the Dogs, stay tuned to the Animals thread.

That looks a lot like our Yellow Crowned Night Heron. It is only missing the yellow crown.

That's the one! Thanks Jaap :)

Must get back  down that way soon

My last safari trip I took a Canon "bridge" superzoom and my R-D1, both long gone now. Today, I'd have to decide between the sort of setup you used, (GXn + 100-400mm) or something like the V-LUX plus my CL. Decisions, decisions...
