stunsworth Posted August 3, 2007 Share #63 Posted August 3, 2007 Thanks Carsten, there's plenty of time to October <grin> The beer garden is only open to the end of September, guess we all missed that.
chouhsin Posted August 3, 2007 Share #64 Posted August 3, 2007 Not exactely, Steve. I did have the luck of enjoying a couple of beer in the beer garden in the central parc of Stuttgart during my vacation. But beer is really not "my cup of tea". Hsin
robert_parker Posted August 3, 2007 Share #65 Posted August 3, 2007 Thanks Carsten, there's plenty of time to October <grin> The beer garden is only open to the end of September, guess we all missed that. Maybe we really should have gone for the Oktoberfest in Munich....
stunsworth Posted August 3, 2007 Share #66 Posted August 3, 2007 Robert, I can think of two possible problems with that idea. 1. Some people - see Hsin - aren't that keen on beer, and it wouldn't be fair. 2. Some people _are_ keen on beer and it would be dangerous <grin>

spylaw4 Posted August 9, 2007 Share #70 Posted August 9, 2007 I wonder if Carsten has had any luck yet... I believe a recent post in another section here indicated that Carsten was on holiday for a week.
earleygallery Posted August 11, 2007 Share #71 Posted August 11, 2007 This place was recommended in a recent Guardian article on 'Best bars in Europe" www.brauerei-lemke.de The mentioned the one at Dirckenstrasse (the right hand side of town). Brew pub, good inexpensive food selection, large tables and they take reservations! Brauhaus Lemke at Hackescher Mark phone: ++49 (30) 247 287 27 | Fax: +49 (30) 247 287 28 Dircksenstraße, S-Bahnbogen 143, 144 | 10178 Berlin – Mitte
andybarton Posted August 11, 2007 Author Share #72 Posted August 11, 2007 Looks like a good choice. What do you say we reserve a space for 25?
spylaw4 Posted August 11, 2007 Share #73 Posted August 11, 2007 Checking on my map it looks in a good location for us, a bit closer to the centre. DirksenstraBe seems to run right underneath the S-Bahn and Hackescher Markt is the next stop from FriedrichstraBe - so it's handy for Andy (and me . Sounds fine - and the reservations are a good idea!
earleygallery Posted August 11, 2007 Share #74 Posted August 11, 2007 Yes, from the photos it appears to be right under the station! In my guide book there is a photo of the same area - looks a little like Deansgate in Manchester with bars/restaurants under the arches. Should be convenient to get to, and to span out to other parts of the city for the photos.
