kuad82001 Posted August 29, 2018 Author Share #22 Posted August 29, 2018 Only a complete replacement, Motherboard/sensor is one unit. And that replacement is over $2000?

kuad82001 Posted August 29, 2018 Author Share #24 Posted August 29, 2018 Yes. So fingers crossed that you did no damage. When I bought the camera I also added it to my State Farm insurance...waiting for an answer from them if indeed the sensor is damaged will it be covered
Jeff S Posted August 29, 2018 Share #25 Posted August 29, 2018 If not, get better insurance specifically for your gear. Jeff

Not all insurances cover that.
Jeff S Posted August 29, 2018 Share #27 Posted August 29, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mine does, but yes, policies vary greatly by type of policy, by company, by location, and by individual circumstances and cost. I checked my coverage and claim reviews well before any incidents. Jeff
kuad82001 Posted August 29, 2018 Author Share #28 Posted August 29, 2018 Self-inflicted? Not all insurances cover that. It is covered. Just got a call back from State Farm and just like if you drop it, spill coffee on it or what ever was "self-inflicted" by the user it is covered.
earleygallery Posted August 29, 2018 Share #29 Posted August 29, 2018 It’s unlikely that you damaged it just wet clean ASAP and you’ll know for sure and can stop worrying!
kuad82001 Posted August 29, 2018 Author Share #30 Posted August 29, 2018 It’s unlikely that you damaged it just wet clean ASAP and you’ll know for sure and can stop worrying! I hope I did not Do you say that it probably is not scratched because they do not scratch so easily?
jaapv Posted August 30, 2018 Share #31 Posted August 30, 2018 Well, when the DMR came out, a rep wiped the sensor with his T-shirt to show how tough the coating was. I wouldn't advocate repeating that though.

Jeff S Posted August 30, 2018 Share #34 Posted August 30, 2018 (edited) Oh wow! So it's not so extremely delicate. Depends if it’s covered in dust/grease vs a particle of sand or grit. Similar to buffing your car with a soft but dry rag, even if it has a wax coating. Maybe the sensor glass is more resistant, but I wouldn’t want to test it. kuad82001 Posted August 30, 2018 Author Share #35 Posted August 30, 2018 Well I had used the rocket blower on it at least four times before I wiped the sensor. So I would think there was absolutely no dust or very little dust.
earleygallery Posted August 30, 2018 Share #36 Posted August 30, 2018 (edited) Just look at the sensor, if it's scratched I'm sure you'd notice. A bad scratch would also show up on the images - shoot a plain wall at f16. Edited August 30, 2018 by earleygallery
Jeff S Posted August 30, 2018 Share #37 Posted August 30, 2018 Well I had used the rocket blower on it at least four times before I wiped the sensor. So I would think there was absolutely no dust or very little dust. Dust isn’t the issue... a stuck piece of sand or grit... on the sensor or on the cloth... can scratch. Chances are you’re fine.
