I, m very sorry to express this here. Hope any could help me. I used to be a leica fan but i cant be more dissapointed and frustated
My dream has become nightmare
6 months ago I sold all my canon equipment and moved to Leica buying brand new m10 + lenses and wich was my dream equipment for travel and journalism work. Im young, and not rich and investing most all my savings and illusion into it. This year i had planed 3 photographic trips to Vietnam Cambodia , Madeira and Iceland.
Resume from this 6 months: less than 1 month of ‘normal’ use, 2 major repairs, more time in wetzlar than in my hands. Lost money, time and frustation. Two failed trips because of its malfunction and randomly blockings during them. Same problems after being repaired. Asked several times to have a replacement of a new unit because mine has been defective from first day, and i,ve been denied. Now the camera is wetzlar waiting to be repaired another time by replacing he main circuit. I will loose also my 3rd trip to Iceland planned for first week of september.
I do not trust in this unit anymore because my bad experience with it.
Just sorry and without options from ******* ******* from customer service telling that they have the discrection to replace or repair. I feel so sad and powerless.. thinking about selling all equipment after the repair wich i never ever wanted to do.
Want to know if any have some similar experience and wich are my legal options to claim for this. My seller far from where i live also left me in the lurch.
Many thanks in advance

I am sorry to hear about your experience. My experience is to not let this go.  Find out who Gabriele reports too and go up the corporate ladder to complain and use social media as well to anyone who will listen.  Hopefully some members here, have some contacts you can use.

Sad to hear that and hope someone who has the power and there are those , will help You , although I think for pro issues its not the right toole.

Price service and products are not in a correct relationship.

And old rule dont have only one horse on Your way trough the desert. And esp. If I have not the money and its a dance on the edge I would not invest in this " System ".

I really wish You good look, I know here are lots of satisfied users, satisfied with the cs too, but here are a lot who are not too.

The best thing to do is to  bypass your local importer and complain to management in Wetzlar, high up as you can get. This is certainly not the way that the company operates normally.

Sorry to hear this dreadful experience.

I agree with Jaap... go to the top.

Good luck and report back.

No excuses, but especially in the digital world, always carry a backup for an important trip. A used M8 or M8.2 will suffice.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Not what I have experienced with Leica where service from Leica Store Manchester has been above and beyond to the extent where the owner picked up my M9 from Wetzler to ensure I had it for a trip (I know that doesn't help you).

Don't let your problems ruin your trip though. Do you have a spare camera? Am old film SLR can be picked up cheaply and you'll still take great pictures.

I'm saddened by your experience Mr Spice. Especially as you bought new!

I also am a recent adopter of the Leica brand. Thus far the experience has been positive.

I hope you find a satisfactory solution to your problem soon.

While the repair terms and conditions may say “repsir or replace at Leica’s discretion”, as a matter of law I’d expect that you’re entitled to a replacement as the product is clearly defective.

I agree with Jaap- go high. Dr Kaufmann orStefan Daniel. Also, ask Andreas if he can point you in the right direction. This isn’t typical Leica. You’ve just hit a roadblock with someone unhelpful.

I am not quite sure by the consumer laws in Spain, but you might be entitled to replace this camera with a brand new one. As far as I am aware of, any item repaired more than twice for a particular issue or repaired twice for 2 separate issue should be replaced by the manufacturer. Also I advise highly to insure your item, since you are a professional. This will cover a part of your equipment issues i.e you might be entitled to loan any camera and reimburse it.

I am actually shocked to hear, your experience is not great with Leica CS team, as I have had to deal with them quite few times in a year and especially Andrea is more than helpful to solve all of my problems.

As a pro, I am much surprised that you did not get an immediate replacement camera on loan from your local Leica dealer while the issues are being solved at Wetzlar. This should be the usual service and even as an amateur I had this once.

Consumer laws should be similar throughout Europe.

That is not true. European legislation defines a minimum level of consumer protection.

For example, warranty period in Europe is usually 2 years, except for The Netherlands which has adopted “expected lifetime” with a minimum of two years and as far as know the UK, which has adopted the same principle, but mitigated.

I am sorry to learn of your experience but by way of balance I have to note here that I've had nothing but extremely good professional care and attentive service from Gabriele Arnold at Wetzlar over the years when any of my cameras and lenses needed repairs.

Same here, as an amateur, (then) Solms gave me a loaner when my new M240 broke down just before my holiday, without me even asking.

Do you not have a back up camera? A Sony body would make the most sense seeing how the lenses can be adapted.

I agree with the others. If you are giving all the facts, and I have no reason to doubt you are hiding anything, that is unacceptable on Leica's behalf. You purchase a $7k camera and it is in for repair that much that early, they should swap it out without blinking. You need to elevate your issue in a calm and nice way.
