6bit Posted August 8, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 8, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just noticed that my new 75/2.4 is showing up as a 90mm in Lightroom. Latest LR and FW on the M10. Anyway to correct this? Side question: I dropped my 75/2.4 on the asphalt here in Dublin. Not cool and the first time I have been that clumsy with a lens. It was bound to happen at some point I guess. The barrel with the DOF markings is bent just enough you can hear metal rubbing when I focus near the infinity side. The white markings on the right side (f/11 f/16) are unreadable. When I send this back to Leica, what instruction should I give for a "put it back to new" intent? Advertisement Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Hi 6bit, Take a look here Leica 75/2.4 showing up as a 90mm in Lightroom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
M11 for me Posted August 8, 2018 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2018 Oh, I feel sorry. I often think of that when I change my lens having camera and 2 lenses in my 2 hands. Often my wife helps me with the lids to chge from one to the other. Often I do it by myself and always fear That I might drop a lens. I hope that at the end your lens is „new“ again.
6bit Posted August 8, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted August 8, 2018 I just dropped the lens. Not really sure how or why. It is just a thing. Ultimately, I can have it repaired and sell it. I probably would have it repaired but the damage caused needs repair. I’m not comfortable with the metal on metal sound.

schattenundlicht Posted August 8, 2018 Share #6 Posted August 8, 2018 (edited) I have recently had a very humbling experience of the same kind https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/287125-ouch/page-1?do=findComment&comment=3564658 when my M7 and Cron 50 V hit tarmac from an improperly closed hip bag. I was due for some self flagellation. I feel with you. My camera and lens arrived in Wetzlar via courier today and I trust them to be thoroughly checked and restored. Kind regards Mathias Edited August 8, 2018 by schattenundlicht

adan Posted August 9, 2018 Share #8 Posted August 9, 2018 (edited) On the first issue, of the lens being wrongly identified as a 90mm - did that only start to show up in pictures after the accident? If you turn on the camera with the 75 mounted right now, and press the info button - what lens does the camera think is mounted? That'll be visible in the bottom of the "info" page on the rear LCD. The lens accident itself may have cause any, all, or some of the following problems, that would lead to faulty lens detection: - Some of the paint in the 6-bit coding dots fell out due to shock (no/wrong black/white spots remaining) - check them on the back of the lens mounting flange; - the barrel damage prevents the lens from mounting onto the camera all the way, which will put the 6-bit dots (and perhaps the framelines) out of position, so that they read as a 90mm, or are not recognized as any actual lens; - and the lens jamming "feels to you" as though it is fully mounted - try rotating it on a bit further to see if the lens release button "clicks" to show it is on all the way. - Because your camera is an M10, its newer "lens detection logic" may simply believe that the (damaged or mismounted) lens is uncoded, and therefore default to whatever you have set in the menu for manual M lens setting, which may be a 90mm of some kind. tobey bilek Posted August 9, 2018 Share #9 Posted August 9, 2018 Urban lens change safety. Do it over grass. Sit down with your knees together. Work over open camera bag if yours is large enough.
