Sometimes breaking the rules is the best answer. The subject centered in the frame locks the eye in place just long enough to give some rest to its otherwise relentless scanning of lines back and forth, up and down.

thinking that the sharp color contrast (her red shorts in contrast to the beige building) trumps rule of thirds, etc.
