I am still betting on a major announcement.  From Red Dot Forum"

"While this is primarily a celebration of the latest additions to Leitz-Park, there is still a chance we might witness some surprise announcements."

Why would Kaufman turn up the hype machine followed by Leica Rumors if there was nothing coming?

But when is / are the alleged camera(s) coming? Bound to be something new at Photokina. But what 'pure Leica' camera is new and available in June 2018?

Dr. Kaufmann specifically said June for L-mount related news. Technically still over 2 weeks to go.

Best-case scenario this is a roughly M-sized EVF L-mount camera with greater than APS-C sensor, sold in conjunction with an M- to L-mount adapter that autofocuses certain M lenses.  The latter alone would address the absurd absence of a reasonably sized 50mm in the Leica full-frame autofocus universe (without rendering superfluous the still-large SL-Summicrons, given their exceptional technical image quality exceeding most M lenses), and the former would give a body with size to match and abundant flexibility.

AF would likely be too slow for other than 'gimmicky use' and nowadays the body would need IBIS to compete. Can't see a queue of M rangefinder enthusiasts buying something slower than a traditional rangefinder.

Perhaps Mr. Kaufmann had an L-Watch in mind, not the L-mount? :)https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/leica-watch-l1-l2-introducing

Prices start at under €10000 for the L1.  That sounds as if they will be 'near to or not too far short of €10000. No thank you. For that £$€ anyone can buy one of several new Rolex sports watches which have proven reliability, better build quality and 'no loss' resale value.

so much for a new CM , a f..king watch..... disappointment

If this is really all from Leica this time around, it probably makes this the candidate for the worst speculation thread in the history of internet (as far as being wrong in prediction).

I don't really care cause my Q is still working perfectly. :D

Don't blame Leica … It's those marketeers again trying to earn a crust of bread.

Based on people having visited Wetzlar recently, there are ample reasons to expect FF announcement(s) and roadmap(s) for the S and/or SL systems in 2018. Whether that means announcements at the event starting tomorrow, Friday, at 11am according to the Red Dot Forum and/or later (e.g. Photokina at Sep 25) remains to be seen.

I'm not blaming Leica or anyone else for that matter. Leica make some amazing products which I enjoy using, and it's fun to speculate because we are all passionate about this stuff (would not be as much fun if speculations always turned out to be correct).

Why would anyone want a watch? Time is irrelevant or announced by your phone.

I still prefer having a traditional watch on my left wrist with analog hand. IMO much quicker and easier to get a feel for the time than opening up the cell phone display by swiping first and having the miniature clock display in one of the corners. This said, I am not interested in this whatever Leica watch.

red dot is saying that the opening is tomorrow and MAYBE an announcement then.

Can't imagine they'd announce a camera today when they are rolling out their watches.

They announced yesterday a seven city tour with the Q leading me to believe that they are still content with that version for now

So it's 21:00pm here and still no news.

What's wrong with those slow Europeans? So behind-the-times.

:p

It's Leica-time, and other times. It's the Leica-calendar, and other calendars. Time is stretchable, and not always trustable. But perhaps things get a little more predictable with an L-watch on the wrist? Time will tell...

*Eyebrow raised after June 14 L-mount teaser followed by L watch announcement. Now fully expecting a Steve Jobs style "one more thing" presentation that reveals an incredible piece of innovation towards the end of the event.
