The 'M' in CM could mean ... Maybe …

… but when exactly?"

… one day prior to alleged CM announcement, no product photos have been released.

If the 'CMaybe' prototype exists, Leica Camera AG is keeping very quiet about it.

My Q needs a partner... I hope they introduce the SL2 as well as a smaller FF? — so that I can choose a new FF? or used SL1

My Q also needs a partner, but small L mount FF would not do it for me unless they also release much smaller L lenses (closer in size to M, with same IQ and as fast as M lenses). Given this is highly unlikely any time soon (if ever) I'm hoping the next best partner to my Q could be another Q to cover 50mm  (also weather proof and tilt lcd would be nice).

I doubt small autofocus lenses as you want them are even technically possible. In my experience a lens that has a builtin autofocus motor means the whole lens will have to grow quite substantly.

I suspect you are right (although we can dream), so as next best alternative I would happily take a new FF M mount with no AF but with great EVF. But that also seems unlikely path for Leica to take (after all the talk about L lenses being the future).

So basically it looks like a big NOTHING. Just another rebranded compact Panasonic... Who comes up with those rumors?

If you’re running Leicarumors.com and posted that initial rumor, wouldn’t you have follow-up posts to keep traffic coming to the site? The lack of any news or follow-up suggests to me that there is indeed a new FF camera coming and Leica has offered sites like leicarumors.com the chance to get their hands on it early in exchange for keeping silent and not publishing anything further.

I hope I’m right because I really, really, really want this camera to be real!

There was a recent follow up about tomorrow’s (?) opening of Leitz Park in which he restated it pretty firmly. I have to believe that Leica would have reached out to him after the first post if the rumor weren’t substantive. They’ve done business together in the past, and I doubt they would leave him hanging out to dry.

I just don’t understand however how they can make a FF smaller than the SL that wouldn’t threaten the TL/CL lens product line...unless the new camera is so truly remarkable that it would effectively stand with the M as their absolute rainmaker. Nikon will announce a FF mirrorless pegged against the Sony a7iii—that’s where they see the best value point for them right now. But Leica is way ahead in mirrorless development and might have its sights on competing with whatever is to follow the a7Riii.

That will be called CW (W for wildest) :D

Interesting - finally a true Wildlife camera from Leica!

Back to reality... Anyone knowing when things (bodies/lenses and possibly roadmaps) to be announced tomorrow?

Remember that the SL came almost totally out of the blue, with no early pics. (And when it did come, all the non-Leica websites posted shots of it that over-emphasised its bulk). Ever since the X-Vario debacle ("Mini-M" anyone?) Leica seems to have got better at managing its release publicity.

Here's hoping for something interesting rather than a pot-boiler!

Okay...Leica could maybe start with the sensor then.....would love to see one in a Leica M and/or MLC which actually can sort of compete with current Sony tech - especially when comparing it to the 42 MP FF sensor.

Honestly, I doubt it will happen. Otherwise I actually might seriously consider buying such digital Leica.....

Yes... that Mini M. With little bit of unclothing teaser every day. What a dream buster! :)

I was in the Leica Manchester store today. They are going to Wetzlar on Friday (the 15th) for the launch of the new C-Lux. Everyone in that store and the London Leica store are insistent they know nothing about any FF announcement either tomorrow or the day after. They did confirm there are new cameras coming (the Manchester store had lots of images of it that I wasn't allowed to see!), but categorically not FF.

I don’t think that a hypothetical full frame CM would be competing directly with the CL and TL2 because the price would likely be like the M10 and SL. I speculate it might instead replace the SL

I am still betting on a major announcement.  From Red Dot Forum"

"While this is primarily a celebration of the latest additions to Leitz-Park, there is still a chance we might witness some surprise announcements."

Why would Kaufman turn up the hype machine followed by Leica Rumors if there was nothing coming?
