His update in the link I posted above is clear to me. Again...

https://leicarumors.com/2018/06/06/updated-list-of-upcoming-rumored-leica-cameras-and-lenses-4.aspx/

Jeff

maybe it's different browsers or something, but when I click on that link and then click on the C-M link that there, it goes to the April story about lenses. Again, i'm thinking this is much ado about nothing...most likely a mistake....

Ok guys,

We will get something like a Q with interchangeable lens or a FF CL with M- Mount, and, of course, with 24Mpix.

I guess, „some“ are waiting for something like this, for what reason ever.

As an impatient landscape shooter (who currently is shooting with M240 and M246) I‘m pretty sure, that I‘m investing my money after June 15th in a non Leica body where I can use my M lenes with 38MPix - 46MPix in 3:2 aspect ratio, with great dynamic range and exceptipnal EVF.

I would be really surprised, if this new „C-M“ is attracting me ...

Have you read Jono's comments about M lenses on e.g. Sony bodies?

"Now you have two bodies but they use the same lens system. And you can use this lens system because the mount we developed here we already had the SL in mind." Then he points to the mount of the TL2 in his hand. "This mount will also...this has much more opportunities than you see here at the moment."

Complete the sentence “This mount will also...”

A...be used for more L-mount lenses (I would have never guessed. Please, keep it a secret, Dr. Kaufmann).

B...be used for the TL3 (Can’t wait for June 14 to be confirmed).

C...be used for another FF body.

D...be used for a MF mirrorless body in the future (now that’s more opportunities than we can see there ‘at the moment’).

Oh, yes I know. I would never switch to Sony, but the GFX-50s has everything I dreamed of. I tested all of my M and R lenses with a tented body and was surprised about the good results, if you are cropping or using the built-in FF framing mode. The addon EVF allows convinient shooting from a lower position and, and, and... But, its a bit more bulky, of course.

Interesting 'Macfilos' blog comments:

http://macfilos.com/photo/2018/6/5/leica-cm-rumours-are-unlikely-to-be-true-this-time

Mike E. knows a thing or three about Leica goings-on so maybe the rumoured CM is 'hot air' ?

Whether or not there’s a C-M, his take seems at odds with Dr. Kaufmann’s LuLa interview comment about a June reveal concerning some new opportunitiy for the L mount.

could also be the panasonic rebranded models. DLUX etc etc

That’s part of the mystery discussed earlier. Form factor or relationship to prior C-M? More than one new product? False rumor? Whatever....

B seems pretty unlikely as Leica already seems to have forgotten that there is such a thing as a TL system...  From their website:

"The new Leica SF 60 system flash is a compact powerhouse for Leica Cameras designed especially for the models of the S, SL, and M series. It is also fully compatible with the Leica Q and CL, for which it also offers TTL flash exposure control. The SF 60 is an extremely compact and powerful flash unit with an outstanding range of features, and is among the lightest and smallest of its performance class."

What would "M" stand for if the so-called C-M had an L mount?

Rather nothing. There was a CM before 15 years ago and it had nothing to do with the M either.

CL / CM: if the titling meant anything it ought to designate a small camera with good inbuilt EVF but FF and with M lens bayonet. Might tempt older M users now finding rangefinder focusing difficult – but that's obviously a minority sector. With the M10, for instance, rangefinder focusing is so much faster than via live view and fiddling about with enlarged central portion of view…….

Excerpt of the CM brochure:

« The most professional among the compacts : LEICA CM. The letter “M” in the name of the new LEICA CM is eminently justified : Its outstanding performance is unusual for a compact camera and makes it as unique in its class as the Leica M cameras are in the category of rangefinder photography »

Yes - an "M" camera with a fixed zoom lens, autofocus too... Interesting marketing - on par with the "mini-M" XV...

Thought: Could the CM be an XV with EVF?

despite this strongly worded (and sensible) denial, Leica Rumors today in its discussion of the opening next week of Leitz Park restated pretty emphatically that the "C-M" will be announced, effectively doubling-down in the face of a lot of skepticism.

I recall some SL lenses were 'announced' … but many months prior to actual availability.

This would be at least very tight. The diameter of a 45x30mm sensor is 54mm, while the inner diameter of the L mount is 48.8mm, and the flange distance of 20mm doesnt give much room either.

Or according to the brochure's wording, the first CM was a Compact camera with M quality. Not that arbitrary. Same for the first CL (Compact Leica), current CL (Compact L mount) and next CM (Compact M mount) hopefully. What about FP for an L mount camera with auto zoom adapter? The Flying Pig camera :D
