rolllo Posted April 13, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 13, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, sometimes there is a massive delay (4-5 seconds) between the exposure and the re-cocking of the shutter. I use the discreet shutter in single shot mode. I did a google and forum search and found some older entries saying this is a known issue with M9/MM when using the discreet shutter. Has this issue been fixed by now or do I have to live with it? Maybe it can be avoided in some ways? Or is the only way to get rid of that annoyance to use normal shutter mode? Thank you so much in advance, Chris

a.noctilux Posted April 13, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 13, 2018 Hello Chris, Is the last firmware installed in your Monochrom ? Now it's 1.022 since last year.
rolllo Posted April 13, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted April 13, 2018 yes, latest firmware is installed. and I also tried different memory cards from different brands, the re-cock choke keeps happening. As I said, there is a thread from 2015 where this is discussed: https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/252379-what-exactly-is-the-cause-for-the-discreet-mode-shutter-recock-problem/
a.noctilux Posted April 13, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 13, 2018 With my "old" Monochrom CCD, and some "old" batteries (that I discarded), strange things like "battery check" told half full (about 50% left on the bargraph), and only a couple of frames possible. The last frame didn't "cock" (only shutter cocking when new battery inserted). Have you replaced (if old) with newer battery ?
rolllo Posted April 14, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted April 14, 2018 yeah, it is not caused by old batteries, it happens with all three of mine, one of which is new. thanks for taking the time to help me out though!
brill64 Posted May 1, 2018 Share #6 Posted May 1, 2018 I haven't noticed this with my M9M when I'd set discreet shutter but then I just turned it off because it slows the camera down. Perhaps it needs checking, cleaning or servicing?
Luke_Miller Posted May 1, 2018 Share #7 Posted May 1, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't use discrete mode, but I seem to recall that it was always problematic. The conventional wisdom at the time the M9 was current seemed to be not to use it.

Thank you so much in advance, Chris IIRC the issue was mainly when combining discreet with Thecontinuous mode, which is not a sensible combination.
