scott kirkpatrick Posted April 10, 2018 Share #3  Posted April 10, 2018 (edited) We'll see. Locking the focus point after it has gone off to some far corner is no more effective than the same strategy applied to barn doors and ponies. What's needed is an eye level control that lets you optionally recenter, then lock, the focus point. or just lock it once you have got it where you want it for a few shots. "from the menu" may not achieve this. Edited April 10, 2018 by scott kirkpatrick

scroy Posted April 10, 2018 Share #8  Posted April 10, 2018 Bummer - looks like there are no change in LENR usage.  Wondering aloud - I wonder if there is sufficient info in the API for this to be a feature in the SL iOS/Android.
robgo2 Posted April 10, 2018 Share #9 Â Posted April 10, 2018 None of these changes is a biggie for me. What I would have loved (and I'm sure would be possible) is to have the EVF histogram and peaking on simultaneously. Â That would speed manual focusing tremendously. Donzo98 Posted April 10, 2018 Share #10 Â Posted April 10, 2018 I would like to have the ability to re-center the focus point quickly.
fotonutzz Posted April 11, 2018 Share #11 Â Posted April 11, 2018 For me, I hope Leica would be able to come up something like what the Olympus OMD offers; Focus Bracketing/Stacking and Live Composite Mode. Â These two features are really useful.

myuen888 Posted April 11, 2018 Share #13  Posted April 11, 2018 I am still at 3.0. Since I don't have the SL 50 1.4, I skipped 3.1. Do we need 3.1 in order to upgrade to 3.2?

geetee1972 Posted April 13, 2018 Share #15 Â Posted April 13, 2018 I would like to see how much exposure compensation has been added/subtracted in the top LCD rather than just the plus/minus it currently shows.
Sandokan Posted April 13, 2018 Share #16  Posted April 13, 2018 Funnily enough, I have never had the joystick move focus points or change settings inadvertently. I also watched a Youtube reviewer complain that this is theoretically possible from his analysis of the design - but it has never happened to him.  So, that "bug fix" does not warrant a change for me; however I am sure that now I have publicly stated its not a problem, I am sure that from now on, it will be a problem for me. LocalHero1953 Posted April 13, 2018 Share #17 Â Posted April 13, 2018 My focus point wanders occasionally on the SL and CL, but locking it is not the answer IMO - I would like a means of quickly recentering it. A lock means I will forget to unlock it just when I want to refocus and take a shot in a hurry.

bsmith Posted April 13, 2018 Author Share #19  Posted April 13, 2018 Well, many us use our SL's professionally, so being able to lock the AF point (like ALL all Nikon and Canon professional cameras) is extremely important to us. Casual amateur usage is a different world.
wizard Posted April 13, 2018 Share #20  Posted April 13, 2018 Well, many us use our SL's professionally, so being able to lock the AF point (like ALL all Nikon and Canon professional cameras) is extremely important to us. Casual amateur usage is a different world.  I am an amateur, and have always preferred to lock the AF focus point dead on center. Using a center-locked focus point to focus on the desired subject, recompose if needed, and shoot is much quicker than rearranging a focus point to an off-center location.  Andy
