White Horse Saloon, restaurant & hotel in Spirit Lake,Idaho.

It's the oldest saloon in the state. Actually it predates statehood.

A full service old west dive that one would never wish to visit. Just a part of backwoods America.

The one in New York is actually named the White Horse Tavern.  For many years it was against State Liquor Authority regulations to call a bar in New York a saloon.  There was a bar on the west side named O’Neil’s Balloon as the SLA would not let it be named O’Neil’s Saloon.  I spent many happy hours in the White Horse Tavern in my younger days.

I had no idea the word saloon was not allowed. Interesting how names and terms change over time.
