Advertisement Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Hi IkarusJohn, Take a look here Luxury Camera Bags by Thorsten von Overgaard. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Paul J Posted March 25, 2018 Share #122 Posted March 25, 2018 I am in utter disbelief about this. Even if it is sourced from animals that have passed away - what message does this send to the world and to poachers? The obscenely high prices that people will pay for the skin of an endangered animal! Who, in their right mind could want this? Even the crocodiles it's absolutely disgusting. I have instantly lost all resect for Thorsten. He better get talking.
ianman Posted March 25, 2018 Share #123 Posted March 25, 2018 it might be reasonable to assume that when the post that is responded to is removed, subsequent posters are able to put two and two together, especially if the reason is set out in a mod post a few post later. And how, dear Sir, are subsequent posters to know which other posts have been removed? It might be reasonable to assume that admins would have the decency to let poster know why posts are removed when they haven't broken any rules. IS that too difficult for your to comprehend? Is it too much to ask? You are in the wrong, admit it for once.
jaapv Posted March 25, 2018 Share #124 Posted March 25, 2018 Time is too short to lead everybody by the hand... Reading other posts, especially by moderators, helps. We will explain, in less obvious cases. Yes, it is too much to ask in such clear circumstances. You could have simply inquired by PM. It may have escaped your notice that moderators are volunteers who donate their time -which can be limited and precious- and effort to keep the forum in order as best they can. We are not some kind of employees to be ordered around.

pico Posted March 25, 2018 Share #126 Posted March 25, 2018 (edited) Don't you kill wildlife in Canada, Pico? I live in The Tropics of Minnesota, USA. The only animal I killed was a deer who ran in front of my big-ass truck on my 2 mile driveway. Coyote ate it to nothing in two days. Nature was satisfied. And I don't live on a continent, and we didn't recently have a stranding of pilot whales (at least, not the one I assume you were referring to). jaapv Posted March 26, 2018 Share #128 Posted March 26, 2018 Hedonism at its best. I rather doubt that the bag style will give much pleasure This kind of hedonism only works if one does not remove the price label.
ianman Posted March 26, 2018 Share #129 Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) Reading other posts, especially by moderators, helps. We will explain, in less obvious cases. All posts were read, that is precisely how I know that double standards are being applied. You could have simply inquired by PM. You could have simple sent a PM explaining why you felt compelled to remove a post (and the one to which I replying), that broke no rules. It may have escaped your notice that moderators are volunteers who donate their time -which can be limited and precious- and effort to keep the forum in order as best they can. We are not some kind of employees to be ordered around. What you choose to do in your spare time is your decision. I'm sure you are not some kind of employee to be ordered around, so please don't be act like some kind of police force ordeing people around. Lonescapes Posted March 26, 2018 Share #130 Posted March 26, 2018 Just checking into this, and am very much encouraged to see that everyone feels this is a bridge too far. It definitely is. I have no comment on Thorsten's character, since I'm not familiar with it, but I will say that I think it has been quite clear for some time that he is not exactly a salt of the earth kind of fellow (nor has he pretended to be). I have instantly lost all respect for Thorsten. He better get talking. I am in 100% agreement with your thoughts, Paul. As for talking, the time for that is past. Thorsten's contemptible decisions with regard to the choice of materials used in making his line of bags speak far louder than any hollow justifications or patronizing apologies he may offer by way of damage control and saving face. Lonescapes Posted March 26, 2018 Share #132 Posted March 26, 2018 While there are certainly overprivileged folks on this forum (what a shock!) I have always found it refreshing that pretty much everyone here routinely laughs at, for example, the majority of Leica special edition releases. I think very few forum members are fans of the Leica stuff that makes people who actually buy Leicas to take pictures with them appear to be wearing expensive fashion accessories. I'm definitely not in favor of any kind of forcing anyone--this fellow included--to publicly recant or apologize on the basis of the ire of their internet audience, but for sure the right thing to do would be for him not to sell anything made of elephant skin, and to have a long think to himself about how it is he came to be so incredibly out of touch with the feelings of the people he presumed such a product would speak to. Ouroboros Posted March 26, 2018 Share #133 Posted March 26, 2018 I admire anyone who managed to watch the full 16 minutes and 51 seconds of his mind-numbingly boring video. Credit to him also for maintaining his house style. The man is best left to ethically sourced elephants and crocodiles.
