41mm x 0.5mm filter step up ring for Summarit 5cm?

I will be looking to use a polaroid filter on my Leica Summarit 5cm/f1.5, when it gets back from cleaning, internal repainting and service by Alan Starkie, to increase the quite low contrast of this lens. As far as I can see the only original 41 x 0.5mm filters available for this lens, are Leica. Not only do folks ask huge prices for these but every one I have looked at, has either obvious or the beginnings of separation occurring. Not surprising given the sandwich construction and natural Canada balsam, used to make them in the 1950's and 60's. They are also linear polarisers, which is fine when I am using film but unsuitable for when using on digital. 

 

The obvious solution therefore is to find a step up ring and use a modern Polariser. I already have good quality Heliopan, Rodenstock or B+W polarisers in 49, 52, 58, 60, 62 and 82mm. The problem is the 41mm is an uncommon thread and even worse, Leica used 41 x 0.5mm fine pitch, when most of the rest of the world used 0.75mm pitch with any filters larger than 39mm.

 

Does anyone know a source for 41 x 0.5mm step up rings?

Then I had S 50 1.5 I purchased 40.5 adapter on eBay. It worked.

Thanks Jaap. I found that out with the Series 5.5 to e39 ring I bought from them for my 40mm Summicron-C and had to use a hair dryer to heat the lens front enough to get it off with a strap wrench. I always put a wipe of Teflon-silicone gel on the threads now. I assume it must be the anodising they use that binds to Leica alloy. However I will be using it on a chrome-brass lens as well, where they don't seem to bind as badly.

When I used to own a summarit I found the Hoya 40.5mm filters to fit quite well, other brands of the same measurements did not.

In a perfect example of Murphy's law, when I was looking for something else, I found a 41 to 43mm step up ring, made by S&W Photo, attached to a 43mm ventilated metal hood. Of course by the time I found it, I had already ordered another one from Heavy2Stars. This also appears to be an S&W, so I must have acquired it from Heavy2Stars for another lens in the past, I think the Kodak 105mm/f5 I used to have on my Graflex Crown Century, before replacing it with a Zeiss 80mm/f2.8 Tessar.

I seem to recall that the eBay seller Heavystar does a number of fittings for 41mm. I got a 41mm to e43 ring from them some years ago for my LTM Summarit. They also do oddities like a series 5.5 to e39 for the film Leica CL with 40mm Summicron.
