lawman Posted March 6, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone used these batteries with the Q or the CL? They appear to be identical to the Leica batteries, but on their website B&H say they are not compatible for some unstated reason.

mhoutman Posted March 6, 2018 Share #4 Posted March 6, 2018 All below batteries with Leica part numbers: 18728 (E): V-Lux Type 114 18729 (U): V-Lux Type 114 19500: Leica Q Type 116, CL are BP-DC 12 with same specs....
norm_snyder Posted March 7, 2018 Share #5 Posted March 7, 2018 Has anyone used these batteries with the Q or the CL? They appear to be identical to the Leica batteries, but on their website B&H say they are not compatible for some unstated reason. Have been using the Panasonic BLC12 without incident on both Q and CL. While they appear to produce slightly less voltage [7.2 vs 8.4 w] there has been no difference in use. There has been absolutely no difference in use.
wlaidlaw Posted March 9, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 9, 2018 Like Jaap, I have been using Jupio batteries. One of my Jupios seems to have a problem with a higher than acceptable self-discharge rate. My Leica batteries measure 8.37V and 8.41V. My good Jupio is 8.33V. Wilson
Mark Pope Posted March 10, 2018 Share #7 Posted March 10, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've just bought a couple of Hähnel batteries for my CL for significantly less than the price of the Leica branded battery. I'm looking forward to see how well they compare.
wlaidlaw Posted March 10, 2018 Share #8 Posted March 10, 2018 I have had problems in the past with my C112 and my wife's V-Lux 20 with Hähnel batteries being incorrectly sized. They were both too narrow and as a result, were not firmly retained by the battery clip. This could mean when you opened the battery compartment flap, the battery would "ping" out. Hahnel replaced both but the replacements had the same problem. As the batteries worked OK apart from the size issue, I kept them and put some strips of gaffer tape on one face, so they were forced against the clip and latched in properly. However, a bit careless making batteries that are not the correct size. Wilson
Mark Pope Posted March 10, 2018 Share #9 Posted March 10, 2018 The ones I have appear to fit, so hopefully I won’t have to resort to gaffer tape.
cpclee Posted November 8, 2021 Share #10 Posted November 8, 2021 Just got my Panasonic DMW-BLC12 battery (~$30 ea.) and it seems to work perfectly in my CL. External markings show exactly the same electrical properties as the Leica's (7.2V, 1200mAh, 8.7Wh).
Guytou Posted November 8, 2021 Share #11 Posted November 8, 2021 There is also this Sigma battery and charger which works completely identically with the CL.
