stuny Posted March 8, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 8, 2018 Very rare, very valuable, very pretty, and a lovely photo. Jaguar was to make 25 of them (XKSS), but only completed about 15 or 16 of them before a fire swept the factory. Jaguar is building new cars using the serial numbers of the never completed cars, and offering them at very high prices, and in most ways, recreating the XKSS with some improvements. They did a similar, smaller run of exceptionally light, aluminum bodied racing versions of the E Type.
Bill W Posted March 8, 2018 Share #4 Posted March 8, 2018 I recently watched a Jay Leno video about the Jaguar XJR-15. There were 53 built I believe and only about 4 or 5 are in the USA because they could only be imported after they were 25 years old. It is basically a Lemans race car for the street. It is right hand drive and the shifter is a right hand shift. Very interesting car. Of course I love cars and can enjoy the really expensive ones through video. stuny Posted March 8, 2018 Share #5 Posted March 8, 2018 Bill - We saw an XJR-15 in Las Vegas (yuch! You can see I'm not a fan of the town) at one of the older, lesser casinos which has an auto museum. Of course to get to it one must pass through the casino. You can see I'm not a fan of the town) at one of the older, lesser casinos which has an auto museum. Of course to get to it one must pass through the casino. I am not a fan either of Vegas. The XJR-15 I saw on You Tube was owned be a doctor from Tennessee. It was dark blue. He had it restored some when he acquired it. He is originally from England and I guess has an affinity for the Jag.
