Today we had a unique celestial phenomenon. It was the first total lunar eclipse since 2015 and the first Blue Moon Blood Moon visible from the U.S. since 1866!

I tried to shoot this in San Francisco (GG bridge in the foreground). The shoot went well (I guess). After a long time I guess I enjoyed watching and shooting lunar eclipse due to good scenery. The pictures are still in the camera. Most would need some processing since light range was huge. Will post the finished photos later in the week.

This is my M240 with 180APO3.4 (I used 90macro elmar as well) on tripod. Eclipse is almost over and Moon is setting.

Has anyone else shot the super duper blue blood moon. :)

Finally got around to processing the files. The details are below. All from San Francisco.

I had used Photographer's Ephimeris software to find out suitable place to shoot moon (I wanted Golden Gate Bridge in the foreground). When I reached there, I found ten other photographers waiting at the same spot.

When I arrived, the eclipse was at peak. Blood red Moon was high in the sky. I had to wait for it to come down closer to Golden Gate bridge.

Little after the peak. Still fully covered by Earth's shadow

Now it is getting closer to Golden Gate bridge. The bright part of the moon has been processed for HDR (else it is too bright)

Further progression. The bright part of the moon has been processed for HDR (else it is too bright)

Show is almost over. Just before the morning.
