LeicaGuy2014 Posted January 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) So sad to see it go, and am already experiencing a bit of seller’s remorse, but I could no longer focus my noctilux with my aging eyes. Wider lenses worked, but not the narrow focal plane of the noctilux. Using the CL and SL instead.
Advertisement Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Hi LeicaGuy2014, Take a look here Sold my m10. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Narsuitus Posted January 28, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 28, 2018 Why did you not sell the Noctilux instead?
bocaburger Posted January 28, 2018 Share #3 Posted January 28, 2018 I'm not an eye doctor but I'm guessing there must be a bunch of different eye issues out there. My ageing eyes have always needed glasses for distance and astigmatism, now for reading as well. Yet I find the Leica rangefinder the easiest of all to focus (50/1.4, 90/2, 135/4 are my most difficult lenses), followed by any SLR. EVF's of any variety I find the most difficult and irritating to focus manually, especially with peaking.
evikne Posted January 28, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 28, 2018 Sad to hear. But unfortunately it's a fact that one needs a relatively good eyesight to use a rangefinder camera.
chris_tribble Posted January 29, 2018 Share #5 Posted January 29, 2018 Sad to hear. But unfortunately it's a fact that one needs a relatively good eyesight to use a rangefinder camera. Within reason. However, with the right diopter, focussing need not be a big issue. With my aging eyes I use a +3.5 diopter (and have done for several years - which shows that some things aren't deteriorating too fast ), and have no more problem focusing an M than most. I'd also say that life with the M10 is the easiest I've ever had when it comes to focusing. It's that much better than earlier models...
Mr.Q Posted January 29, 2018 Share #6 Posted January 29, 2018 Why did you not sell the Noctilux instead? Good question. Buying a Visoflex 020 instead would have worked as well.

LeicaGuy2014 Posted January 30, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted January 30, 2018 I had the Viso 020 too, but really didn't enjoy the experience (mostly the lag).
250swb Posted January 30, 2018 Share #9 Posted January 30, 2018 A tripod would have worked in using Live View to focus the Noctilux, far cheaper than taking the depreciation hit, or just wait until the urge to take pictures of 'creamy bokeh' has worn itself out. The day I lose the urge to take creamy bokeh pictures, I will sell my M10 too!
becker Posted January 31, 2018 Share #11 Posted January 31, 2018 Congrats, the old school RF in some cases is useless fe wide open, long lenses and macro. The SL system ore Fuji`s sys, is much more unlimited.
LeicaGuy2014 Posted February 1, 2018 Author Share #12 Posted February 1, 2018 I’m moody nowadays, vacillating between creamy bokeh vs using a narrower aperture to capture more of the “story”
rhwolf Posted February 1, 2018 Share #13 Posted February 1, 2018 Did the same thing three weeks ago for the same reason. Kept all the M lenses to use with the SL and soon to arrive CL. Aging has pros and cons. At least we are still here, enjoying our hobby/craft/passion!
bocaburger Posted February 1, 2018 Share #14 Posted February 1, 2018 I'd also say that life with the M10 is the easiest I've ever had when it comes to focusing. It's that much better than earlier models... I don't notice any improvement in that respect over the M240. People said the same thing about the M240 vs M9 and I didn't notice that either. The only ones with issues for me were the ones between the M4 and MP (and revised M7), which at certain angles whited out the patch.
mdemeyer Posted February 2, 2018 Share #15 Posted February 2, 2018 The alternative to getting old is being dead. I know which I prefer. ;-) Did the same thing three weeks ago for the same reason.
