Even though it has a cover, there is one that is skinny enough to work it way in. Birds will not feed when he is in there. Maybe h will eat enough where he cannot get in. The squirrels in my area are very small. The flickers don't put up with the squirrels and chase them off. Quail just feed on the seeds that end up on the ground.
