Yes, yes and yes!

 

I have the lens, the M9 and the M240. My Elmar-M collapses safely in both cameras, as well as in the SL, Remember that it must be mounted and dismounted extended, however.

When mounting Elmar or Elmar-M collapsed, as there is some play, the rear of the lens mount may touch the roller in the body... or other parts inside.

 

Anyway, when collapsed Elmar mounting or dismounting is not easy affair, lack of grapping home for digits.

When it is mounted collapsed, and the tube is past the mount flange, the tube may hit the throat of the camera ahead of the shutter and damage it.
