LocalHero1953 Posted February 20, 2018 Share #101  Posted February 20, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) What if it were my SL that was faulty somehow...  Only used the 75mm with 3.1, but it's the same experience I get from low light with 90-280 and 50, not tried the 24-90 in low light really.  Loathed to call it low light, it's not exactly 12,800 material Did you try face recognition? I find that better for portraits in low light (with the zooms - I don't have either of these primes). Advertisement Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Hi LocalHero1953, Take a look here 75 and 90mm SL lenses will arrive in February. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

pantoufle Posted February 20, 2018 Share #103  Posted February 20, 2018 According to my very limited low distance portray shooting experience with the Summicron SL 2,0/75, face detect does not focus the iris, rather an eyebrow. This may change somehow with greater distance. It's face detection, not really eye detection. Low light AF is anyhow more tricky. I do think, this is almost independent from the lens used. Interesting. My experience is with the zooms - at f2.8 it seemed to go for the iris. Perhaps at f2 the true focus point is clearer.

sillbeers15 Posted February 21, 2018 Share #109 Â Posted February 21, 2018 Thx. Simple yet perfect fill light. Your shot looks like natural light to the untrained eye.

Per P. Posted March 28, 2018 Share #115  Posted March 28, 2018 Well I recommend Andrew Gough’s review for a more rounded perspective. Despite Horatios strong views it only took a 10 minute test drive for me to decide to replace my R-Summilux 80 with the SL-Summicron 75. Not that either of the lenses will make me a better photographer

I’ve been looking for the 75 here in the USA and nobody has it. I think Popflash has the 90 in stock.
