Advertisement Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Hi jto555, Take a look here Interesting review of the new 75mm Noctilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
albertknappmd Posted December 28, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2017 well written and compelling article! Thank you! Albert
MarkP Posted December 28, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 28, 2017 Nice lens but the article did not compel me to buy one. Heavy, bulky, expensive, probably unusable on an M camera without an EVF due to viewfinder blockage & focus difficulty wide open, and I rarely shoot my fastest lenses wide open for that zero-depth-of-field look (or 'gimmick' as Kristian calls it) . I'll stick with my old 75 Summilux and 75 APO-Summicron. Mark
jrp Posted December 28, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 28, 2017 I love quality lenses as much as the next man / woman, but the Nikkor 105f1.4 seems a more practical proposition for portrature.
LS1 Posted December 28, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 28, 2017 Nikkor 105 might be a more practical option in some respects, certainly $, but dslr’s can struggle at times to achieve consistent, critical focus. Rangefinders too, which is one reason why maybe best paired with the sl.
jrp Posted December 29, 2017 Share #6 Posted December 29, 2017 But the SL will have its own 75mm Summicron with AF out in due course (although it’s taking a while). That will be a more practical instrument than this showcase. And the 24-90 zoom is a cut above its peers, where f3.5 suffices.
Herr Barnack Posted December 31, 2017 Share #7 Posted December 31, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) The article does make a compelling case for the 75 Noctilux. Regrettably, $12,800 USD is out of reach for many of us. I'm sure that anyone who can afford this masterpiece will buy it, which worldwide will be more than a few but still a microscopic number by Nikon/Sony/Fuij/Canon standards. Hopefully it will be enough to keep Leica interested in making the lens long term. Maybe one day...

jto555 Posted January 3, 2018 Author Share #9 Posted January 3, 2018 Anyone have an opinion about the Nikon 105mm f/2 DC mounted on a m10? I have not used that lens but by all reports it is a wonderfull lens.

Gregm61 Posted January 17, 2018 Share #12 Posted January 17, 2018 Thanks for sharing; as usual, Erwin Puts offers very sensible insights and analysis on this topic. Sensible, but rambling sentence upon sentence with no paragraph breaks to make it easy to follow. He must write like he thinks, in one long, never-ending thought process.
dante Posted January 18, 2018 Share #13 Posted January 18, 2018 Fantastic lens. I've used it but not with an EVF. Might be easier to use the defocus control, which I found a bit challenging with DSLR focusing screens. Dante I have not used that lens but by all reports it is a wonderfull lens. Csacwp Posted January 18, 2018 Share #14 Posted January 18, 2018 To my eyes the rendering is ugly... I’ll stick with my 75 lux!
Linford Posted January 19, 2018 Share #15 Posted January 19, 2018 Time has a way of clearing the air. It will be fun to see what happens with regard to this lens over the coming months. Art, images, and the appreciation for the tools that create them are all subjective. For years I read about the 1.4/35mm Summilux FLE and even enjoyed the images. When I tried it for myself I just xouldn’t Make myself like the lens or the results. It’s a funny game we all play. Stay tuned....
onasj Posted January 19, 2018 Share #16 Posted January 19, 2018 Has anyone seen a consumer release copy of this lens? I heard some Europe dealer(s) got the lens already; hoping that the rest of the world won't be far behind so we can get some samples and additional impressions. mdemeyer Posted February 14, 2018 Share #18 Posted February 14, 2018 Good in what sense? I learned nothing except that it’s expensive, which I already knew.
otto.f Posted February 14, 2018 Share #19 Posted February 14, 2018 Thanks for sharing this. We can’t really compare but it seems that the bo-keh of the Summilux 75 is more smooth, serene and less ‘here I am, look at me!’
Csacwp Posted February 14, 2018 Share #20 Posted February 14, 2018 Sounds about right. I do like Kristian Dowling’s photos with the noct though... really nice. I’ll still pass and keep my 75 lux.
