What would be the reasons to keep both: 50 APO & 50 Summilux?

I had the 50 APO and now the Summilux-SL 50.  They seem to be pretty comparable in terms of IQ.

 

You are right that it's close. I do have the SL50 and even the 50mm equivalent S lens. Both are amazing in their own right. As an overall package tho, I find myself always coming back to the 50 apo. There's just that little bit more contrast and clarity being an APO lens wide open. However, I think if the other 2 lenses were stopped down just a smidge, they would achieve a similar lvl of APO characteristics too.

I have sold my M50/1.4asph after getting the 50 APO and have never missed it.

On the SL I prefer the 50/1.4 AF lens though (due to AF)

Summilux Black Chrome 1959 ... if you are a collector and/or like lenses with character

... but then it becomes hard to cheer with the pixel peeping crowd.

On the SL I would rather buy the SL 50 - with the IQ of the Apo50 and the 1.4 speed of the Summilux .

But for a collector this is probably no valid argument.
