For the last few days our lake has been invaded by hundreds of Trumpeter Swans. I don't know what they're feeding on, but they obviously like something under the surface. I wouldn't mind seeing them all winter but they'll probably leave when the lake begins to freeze over.

Really nice. We live in the Texas hill country. Where we walk along a country road there is large group of what we just call Canadian geese that inhabit a large pond on a local ranch. They come every year it seems. In summer it is really hot here so they must go north. They are fun to watch.

Brent, the eagles in my area do the same mass exit. Nature is always interesting.

Bill, ironically, the bitter cold weather brings bald eagles into our area. As lakes and rivers in the northern reaches freeze over, the eagles come here and gather where the warmer effluent keeps some water open for them to fish in.
