quickclickmick Posted August 17, 2021 Share #81 Posted August 17, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) @pidewegw I did an online search this morning and the Leica store Malaysia may have stock. It seems to be still available to add to cart where other stores are now saying not available. https://www.leica-store.my/sport-optics/digiscoping/

Leica Guy Posted November 8, 2021 Author Share #82 Posted November 8, 2021 The moon and Venus were very close tonight. Q2 and Swarovski ATS 80 Spotting Scope. 20X power on the scope. Two images combined together as best I can to show how the conjunction of the moon and Venus looked tonight. 20X on the spotting scope was too magnified to include Venus in the same image. On tripod, 1/10 sec, f/3.2, ISO 200. Welcome, dear visitor! THC Posted December 2, 2021 Share #83 Posted December 2, 2021 Hello guys, looking though this thread I see where several are having difficulty obtaining an adapter for the Q2 for digiscoping. I don’t know about adaptability, but Zeiss makes an adapter that’s 49mm male thread for screwing into the Q2 filter threads. It then lines up on my Zeiss Conquest Gavia 85 spotting scope perfectly (that’s what it’s designed for). They also make one the fits the Harpia spotter that can be screwed into the Q2 filter threads. They run about $70.00. I don’t know if any would hep with your current situations, but if so, it’s a really easy setup to the Q2 and my Gavia spotting scope. thanks. tc

If you’re in the US, I would call Leica New York Soho, Camera West and Leica Miami. They are two excellent Leica dealers. They may have one or one come in someday used. I trust you mean this adapter, here. This site seems to have them but clearly prior knowledge is needed to order the right adapter; assuming, of course, that it will fit your equipment. Needless to say that I have no relationship with this site. Regards.
Marco Ca Posted July 29 Share #88 Posted July 29 When digiscoping with a leica Q on a scope, how do you focus when you have to focus both the scope and camera? Also what aperture do you set the Leica Q to?
F-train Posted August 2 Share #89 Posted August 2 And will the digiscoping adapter fit a Q3 43? It uses the 49mm filter thread or the outside thread for the hood?

I can confirm it does fit. I have a 43 and the adapter uses the hood thread. It screws on but does not get tight at the end like the hood does. But you have to turn it a good many times before it's fully on so it definitely isn't coming off.
gentlemanjerry Posted August 2 Share #91 Posted August 2 I have a Q3 43 and the new APO Televid 65. I am definitely going to need to practise to get sharp photos. I threw it on this afternoon and tried taking photos of a static hawk in a tree and they were awful. I was on a tripod and using the app to take photos to prevent shake. I had my settings at around F7.1 and a shutter of about 1/500, I figured I'd get rid of the noise in post. I found it very difficult to focus. I am going to have to experiment with different settings when I have more time. I will try using focus peaking and also using the macro mode.
F-train Posted August 3 Share #92 Posted August 3 Thanks Jerry! Focus peaking doesn’t work on the scope?

I didn’t get time to try it. Will be my next step to attempt to get sharp photos.
Tiwi2 Posted September 28 Share #94 Posted September 28 For a Q3 beginner trying to photograph the Milky Way please suggest best choices for these menu items (using F1.7 and manual focus on infinity): Focusing Exposure Metering Exposure Compensation White Balance Scene Mode Optical Image Stabilization Shutter Type Long exposure noise reduction Thank you. Stephen_C Posted September 29 Share #95 Posted September 29 (edited) I strongly recommend this: Milky Way Photography: The Definitive Guide (2025). Further, if you're inclined to buy their app (which is very good) you can obtain definitive suggested settings specifically for the Q3. Edit: Although I'm not sure what this has to do with digiscoping! Stephen Edited September 29 by Stephen_C
