LUF Admin Posted November 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you compare the new Leica CL to the current Leica product range, different comparisons come to mind: Leica Q or Leica X w/ interchangeable lenses Leica SL, compact style Leica TL2 w/ viewfinder Leica M, modern version Which one describes the CL best? None of the fits? Looking forward to your suggestions!

Jeff S Posted November 22, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 22, 2017 I suspect some would prefer a category for a digital version of a film CL. Jeff
Jeff S Posted November 22, 2017 Share #4 Posted November 22, 2017 Lack of comparable weather sealing (and to a lesser extent, back button focus) precludes mini- SL description for me. And the jury is out on IQ comparison, though I suspect this will not be an issue. Jeff
jaapv Posted November 22, 2017 Share #5 Posted November 22, 2017 To me it is a logical development of the X series.
Louis Posted November 22, 2017 Share #6 Posted November 22, 2017 A kind of happy marriage between X and TL series for those who wanted a smaller SL. Vive les maries.

tonyniev Posted November 22, 2017 Share #8 Posted November 22, 2017 new X camera, having said that do you think leica will come up with a new smaller flash than the SB40 for use with the CL?

m0n0 Posted November 22, 2017 Share #10 Posted November 22, 2017 (edited) 'Digital Barnack', which is what the reference to 'Oskar's Erbe' suggests, excites me the most. And I hope that's not setting up overly high expectations of timeless design. I'll wait to feel it in hand.Sent from my EVA-L29 using Tapatalk Edited November 22, 2017 by m0n0
Louis Posted November 22, 2017 Share #11 Posted November 22, 2017 new X camera, having said that do you think leica will come up with a new smaller flash than the SB40 for use with the CL? Leica flashes are made by Metz, with a red dot. For instence, mecablitz 26 af‑2 Is less than half price than the Leica with the red dot; but it is the same flash. Louis Posted November 22, 2017 Share #13 Posted November 22, 2017 will it work with the M10 too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk This flash comes with different versions, compatible with different cameras; Fuji, canon, Nikon, Leica, etc. it also has an updatable firmware on line. I do not have it yet, but I think you should check to see if the one for Leica is compatible for M10. I hope to be able to use it with my upcoming CL.

I just reserached thru questions and answers at B&H Photo site found it will not work with M10, maybe it will work with the CL, which is good enough as I plan to use the CL to replace the Sony A6000 taking snapshots at family dinners and get together
Ko.Fe. Posted November 22, 2017 Share #15 Posted November 22, 2017 Leica X with interchangeable lenses and internal, but like external EVF. Or it is X-T10 with EVF bump shifted to the side.

NZDavid Posted November 22, 2017 Share #18 Posted November 22, 2017 It's the camera that has long been missing from the Leica line-up. Does Leica perhaps have too may models now?

IkarusJohn Posted November 23, 2017 Share #20 Posted November 23, 2017 There's an option missing (yeah, I know - there's always one). The CL is an X body, but with interchangeable lenses AND a built in EVF. Conversely, it is a TL2 with a built in EVF AND an X body. Functionally, it's a TL2 with viewfinder, but in appearance it's a development of the X camera (but with two developments to the TL2's one - EVF and the L mount).
