I own a Leica M Elmarit 21mm which has the 60mm size filter threads....

Will a standard Leica 60mm filter cause vignetting or do I need a slim version?

Also, I've heard that other brands may not fit with the hood I have...any ideas?

My hood is #12543 See photos below.

Thanks in advance.

I have no experience with this lens but E60 Leica filters were not slim AFAIK.

Leica E60 filters:
Orange: 13383
Polar: 13376
UVa: 13381
Yellow-green: 13392

Forgot the E60 UV/IR filter # 13414. Not a thin filter either.

I have the same version (pushbutton hood, no pins), never had any problem with any filters, vignetting or fouling the hood, and I've never used thin ones. I have kept a B+W MRC UV on it from day one except for my time with the M8 when I used a Heliopan UV-IR. I think you might even get away with a 58mm and 60-58 adapter, but I don't remember if I actually tried it or just thought about trying.

I have the same Elmarit-M 2.8/21 mm, with a Leica E60 UV/IR filter permanently on it, I also use a Leitz green filter E60, A Heliopan orange filter and B&W ND filters, none of them giving any problem at all.
