It didn't always happen with my M9, but it was pretty much 90% of the time. Drove me crazy. Here's a shot from my M9 and 50 Summicron v5. You can see it markedly on the stop sign.

I have only rarely been using my M9 since I have the SL, but I have to pay attention to it.

I really liked my M9 aside from that one thing. The colours were wonderful, and I got a lot of 'keeper' pictures from it. It was the M9-P version with the script on the top deck. I found I was converting more pictures to mono in the end, so when the M Monochrom was announced, I traded it in for one of those.

Hopefully it's still out there somewhere, getting some good use from another owner.

One side note. Don't know if this happens to anyone else, but almost any time I shoot red lights (traffic lights, car tail lights, etc) with a digital camera, they come out as white in the centre. The Leica M9 I used to have was really bad for this, no matter how much I underexposed.

I have the same issue with my SL but I didn't noticed this with my M9 or CL.

I just did a test with my M9 for this, because I'm going on holidays next week. Both with APO90. This is the M9:

Fair play to you. It's probably been me at fault - operator error. If a red light was shining at an angle it would sometimes be OK. It's been eight years since I traded my M9 in. I like to think my technique might be a little better now.

Have a nice holiday!

He's becoming more and more well-known so I thought I'd post this image of Alan Schaller in a Boston subway from January 2019.

The light on the wall was serendipitous, although he would have taught to anticipate it

Waterloo undercroft - I know it well.  Sad to see it so quiet, which is probably a result of Covid19, but I normally find it to be a good place for street shooting too.

There were a couple of kids with skateboards deep in there, would have been intrusive to include them.  Had my M10M and a ‘Lux 28M Not the kit for social distancing.

I spent many a happy Saturday there with my mates growing up. It used to extend right through to the other side of the Southbank centre but was partitioned off after a long but successful campaign to save this section from redevelopment for yet more retail & food outlets.

I contributed to the campaign and I'm glad it successfully protected it from developers' greed!

Another one for nostalgia.

I remember many years ago one of my sons asking if we could go there, so we went really early one Sunday morning and it was a fantastic father son experience.  I had a Canon 40D at the time and used it as my main camera right up until I bought the SL2.  My son still uses it.

M10M,  Summilux-M 1:1.4/28 ASPH.  1/500s,  F4?
