Advertisement Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Hi NB23, Take a look here Your favourite focal lengths, and what do you shoot?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
michaelwj Posted September 18, 2017 Share #22 Posted September 18, 2017 50mm for head and shoulders? Surely for taking photos. An axe would be more suitable for taking heads and shoulders. Maybe even a guillotine, but I can't walk around with one all day, it's more a studio item.
marcg Posted September 18, 2017 Share #23 Posted September 18, 2017 Anyone uses a 28, 35 and 50, interchangeably as their favorite lenses? Yes, Mate
Gregm61 Posted September 19, 2017 Share #24 Posted September 19, 2017 After totting my M262, 21 Super Elmar and 35 and 75 Summicrons for a week in the Canadian Rockies, I think I may look into the 35 and 75 Summarits to go with the 21 SEM as a much lighter outfit. pgk Posted September 19, 2017 Share #30 Posted September 19, 2017 `When I take photos the focal length is indeed very relevant. When I look at them later it really isn't. My favourite focal lengths are the ones I have with me. I have a tendency to shoot 21/35/135 or then again perhaps I'll use a 75 or 90 too. I rarely use a 50, but actually I've been using one quite a bit recently. The question is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string - if its long enough it doesn't matter. Whatever lenses I have with me I shoot accordingly. Favourite is a tricky thing to quantify and I've given up trying.

michaelwj Posted September 19, 2017 Share #33 Posted September 19, 2017 Don't forget lighter underwear as well. Don't forget the easiest way to carry less is also the cheapest. Eat less an cut a few kg off the area just above your belt. Sure it's not instant gratification but hey, your heart will thank you! Not directed at any one person, just to society in general. I'm off to weigh my underwear now.

Gregm61 Posted September 20, 2017 Share #36 Posted September 20, 2017 Don't forget the easiest way to carry less is also the cheapest. Eat less an cut a few kg off the area just above your belt. Sure it's not instant gratification but hey, your heart will thank you! Being someone that weighed 250 pounds on July 29, 2016 and was down to 154 when my trip in Alberta began last week on the 12th, I can relate. Certainly made those hikes up the slopes around Moraine/Louise Lakes and off the Icefields Parkway much easier. As a flat-lander from Dallas, I was also feeling any additional weight hanging off my shoulder(s). I took my M outfit instead of the convenience of something like my Olympus E-M1 and 12-100 zoom, or even a two zoom combo of the 12-40 and 40-150 f2.8's, so an M262, 21, 35 and 75mm lens set up in a Fogg bag was definitely lighter, but you still felt it, and every 1000-2000 steps up those grades, any additional weight started feeling heavier and heavier. I never sell M lenses, so what I have, I'll always have. Playing with the 35mm f2.4 Summarit this morning, comparing with the 35 Summicron ASPH, and imagining the difference between the 75 Summarit and Summicron, I would have happily "lived with" the Summarits last week had I had them at the time. Beautiful place..
